perp not die... ape together strong...
make a too long didnt read???here is a summary of the post generated by monkeyAI:
This wouldn't be as big of an issue if developers were more open with the community as to what was going to change and when. I understand it's likely impossible to come up with a concrete update schedule when every developer is a volunteer, but it would do a lot better for the community than just staying silent until the update actually comes out. It's not enough to say "We're working on it" and leave it at that. Especially considering that, for example, the devs have been "working" on a municipal worker job for more than a year. No one is asking what players would like to see. No one is asking what issues there are with the gamemode. When someone writes about their issues with the gamemode, it gains a little bit of traction and is forgotten shortly thereafter.Yes, ofcourse Perp would benefit from updates. People love updates! But remember, Perp is not a real game. It does not have this entire team behind it. It has a small group of Devs, each with their own lives. Updates cannot be churned out and they're not always good for everyone.
PERPHeads needs to change or continuously evolve in order for players to have the desire to keep playing and contributing to the community. I resigned because I knew I would be doing the same things over and over and over again, because it seemed like the developers refused to change the gamemode for the better. I got burnt out, and I thought that once I came back things would be better, but judging from these recent bans, it doesn't seem that way. I would be lying if I said these people would be missed, but then again, I don't think it's a good look for the server when players with lots of playtime decide to ban themselves from the community permanently. New players sticking around is good, but eventually they'll do the same thing Lhealey did, and the players that come after that will do the same as well.

if only we had people.... to manage the community..... and communicate between these people..... perhaps call them community managers... the bridge between players and staff....This wouldn't be as big of an issue if developers were more open with the community as to what was going to change and when.
Upon conducting a thorough investigation into the recent events that have transpired, where several "highly important" players decided to get themselves banned because PERPHeads is dying, by lethal shootout, we've come to the the conclusion this may directly be linked with stupidity.People in this thread are very quickly dismissing alot of active people deliberately getting themselves very long bans Rather than trying to analyse the reason.

In fact most of these players suffered from a serious chronic case of poor judgement, displayed through a continous pattern over their time in the community.
Additional evidence suggests these players, who identified themselves as free-thinkers, may have followed the exact same pattern one after the other.
We shall honor the fallen heroes. Don't even joke lad.

Well in some aspect that's correct, but the reality is that it is dying because loyal serious players in the community still get lengthy bans there should be no reason a player should get a ban over a week for a simple 3.4 break if its a blatant accident. But instead you get people getting 1-3 months in some cases just for trying argue a case with the admin its pathetic how sensitive the community is I would not be surprised if the servers dead by 2027 with who's running it.As I currently understand it, a portion of the main Perp players find the server to be dying. Lately, many of these players have been deciding to get themselves a perm ban. Lhealey05, a former moderator, received a perm ban for MRDM. Which later became a CWB. Not only Lhealey05 though. I checked the ban list today. I saw 4 recognisable names, names of recurring Perp players. Now, I do not know them all too well, they might have left for other reasons. However, I feel like this is part of the current 'Perp is bad'/'Perp is dying' hype.View attachment 33325
I know that people have been saying this for a long while. It's part of the whole GMod is old/S&box discussion. But I feel like the group of people discussing that in Perp, was a small percentage of the main players. To me, it seems like that percentage is rising. In OOC, in voice chat, on the forums, all I hear is people complaining about some kind of Perp Death. But I do not agree. Hearing these statements can change the way you think about Perp. The moment you start saying it aswell, you will start believing in it. Yes, you may think that Perp is dying, but I feel many people radicalise the actual situation. Perp still reaches 128 players every day. Bazaar is still buzzing. All that is really happening, is that you are growing up. Your friends too. Long time players will eventually leave.
There was a big influx of players in 2016. It is now 2026, 10 years later. After 10 years, you are bound to get kind of sick of it. Even after new updates, new events, new friends, etc. I have noticed that in the last 2 months, there has been a peak in new players sticking around. Essentially taking up the spaces of older Perp players, the ones who chose to leave. Like you and your friends, Perp is changing too. A new admin team and new PD Command. That things are changing, does not mean things are getting worse.

I am sorry if my story might be shittily formulated, but I hope you get the gist. I wanted to address some problems that people have been complaining about one by one (new players and no updates). I am ofcourse not an authority. But I feel like people misunderstand their own views.
Let me know what you guys think though. It is a discussion after all.
TL;DR
Yes, Gmod is old. Yes, people are leaving Perp. No, Perp is not dying. People grow up, people change. You, your friends, Perp too. Do not be dramatic. Do not unfairly call Perp dying. That's life, it's changing, that's all it is.

This may be due to a common phenomenon called "people change" in which they at first display one characteristic and then that characteristic ends up changing for better or worse. Additionally this may come as a limitation of the staff team colloquially referred to as "we're not mind readers".Good to know people who suffer from a chronic case of poor judgement are given mod
