Perp Death or Perp Dramatic?

I currently feel like the server population is thinning. Completely due to the fact that many main players keep MRDM'ing, causing their friends to leave aswell. At peak hours, the server has ~116 players. A lot, but not max pop, like normal.
Another new addition to the banlist is jimb0. One of the Finnish players, I think by the name Niko Ranta-Aho.
It's not the devs, the mods or GMod itself, that's supposedly killing Perp. It is the people who say Perp is dying. It is the people who MRDM. They get banned, causing others to leave. Some of them even choose to MRDM aswell. That continues the cycle.
I do not agree with this method.

Me too, who hasn't. For me, it was just seeing a very good opportunity. Like when PD lobby is completely full of screaming fuckers for no reason. Just mow them down, yk?
But not because of the game itself. When I get mad about the game, I take it out on my wife and kids.

The wife and kids play in the big 26 unexpected hahaha
Na all joking aside, I get heated very easy so for me sometimes its like well you know it something i would regret afterwards most likey as i would have multiple people calling me a complete mong and @Scoot coming to my house IRL just to shout at me for being a complete retard, however I do get what some people are saying tho, for starters when updates that where said to happen don't happen after a time you start to be like well what the fuck are you doing you know. (Coming from recent drama in the destiny community and bungie which fits here i feel like) I like what fredy did getting us involved and making a thread just saying this is what we are working on, What would you like more.

Another thing ofc is alot of people mass RDM'ing, again i see why people are vocal about things not saying its ok, but if theres a bunch of older players leaving theres a reason u know thats what it sounds like to me anyway

The people mass RDMing are retarded yes, but that doesn't really kill the server. There's nothing new happening on the server. Unless you're new to PERP, the joy of PERP is on repeat and the same thing for most people. The updates coming into the server are small to almost unnoticeable and the development team doesn't seem to even care about that because they think the player count they receive is satisfactory. I recently went a whole loop around the map and 50% of the server when there were around 110 people were AFK at places like spawn, bazaar, PD and other locations around the city. The others are either on duty, minging or just AFK growing.

Maybe the development team needs to get a grip and instead of changing minor mechanics to make the game smoother they should focus on the activity side of the server and implement new stuff for the players to do. Fixing the drug economy won't fix those kind of issues on the server at all, as the latest update that made the server more appealing to older and newer players was this update https://perpheads.com/threads/update-log-09-02-2026-paralake-v6-2-more.74265/.

Which just made Premium more expensive for players to buy with in-game cash and for Fredy to gain more yearly income. Yes the property being added was also there, but I doubt that really changed much about the issue of there being nothing on the server to do besides growing drugs AFK or just being on duty.

There's for example the fishing mechanic on the server which can be changed a lot and lots of new jobs that could be implemented that I doubt would take a long time for someone who actually knows how to develop. Every new player I have introduced to this server almost always starts with the thought of the server being boring as shit, as there's almost no one to interact with because they're all AFK or just focused on drugs/raiding/cop. The server earns a lot of money yearly to either hire someone who is willing to actually make something for the server, or for the server developers that I think are already getting paid a little to get a grip and just do something bigger for once besides v6 that can attract all kind of players for a stay thats gonna last longer than a week before being bored out again.

Also another Issue I constantly notice is with the community managers. I don't think that they even enjoy the server or have anything to do, the only times I have interacted with them ingame is at bazaar and them larping/talking to people and !bringing their friends to bazaar just to sit there afk all quiet in their ts channel or whatever and do absolulety nothing there. Instead of you doing just that all the time and calling it a day maybe you they should be open for changes or start interacting with peoples feedback on stuff on forums/ingame. I have scrolled through the forums and I don't see them engaging with the community in anyway besides the monthly community spotlight or what ever is called which almost no one cares about that much anymore. Even tho I didn't like Efan or Ethan what ever he chooses to be called I kind of felt like there we're more changes under his time for the better than there have been with these new developers/community managers.

I have played in recent time quite a lot on duty, crim and growing drugs. The server used to be way way worse I agree, but in recent times even tho the server is full at times It still feels extreamly boring and the lack of content is highly noticeable when its being played on such a huge map with 50% of the server being inactive in a way where you can interact with them.

No one is leaving because 4 people mrdm however imo and in agreement with google chrome the server just feels boring, now do I believe MRDMING and just crying with no input is necessary? No its a bit beggy, jarring and you make people who actually have criticism just look retarded and make those who have genuine criticisms look bad.

The server hitting 128 pop and whatnot yes its good yes statistically its not "dead" however when i want to do crim and raid (a core aspect of the server) its rather demoralising to come to slums and see 1 new player thats not even in the base or a 10 man zerg with every apartment bought out to flank and rat from. So yes the server isn't dead but the server does feel rather soulless at times which makes just wanting to play rather demoralising as there just seems like there's nothing.

It would definitely be nice to see community managers engage with the actual criticism that aren't just freaks bandwagoning the server "dead" for attention/reaction score, I do believe if community managers engaged with the server a teeny bit more via actual input and discussion I believe it would give more hope, I'm not saying the server or those who help the server do nothing or are the worst people in the world especially as they do this as their own irl hobbies and some people seem to forget that and It makes sense if everything you've done for the server administrative/dev wise just gets shat on or nitpicked 24/7 it would be pretty disappointing and I do believe some individuals could be a bit more nuanced and weren't just odd with no actual motive besides "shit server LOL". However there definitely could be actual change or more feedback with things such as suggestions being "we have no plans for this in the future", being aired or community managers not really having much input on something that affects the community.

Too be fair, im going to play a little bit of devils advocate here, I know tyla and scoot are busy people scoot not as much atm i think so im assuming he's around a-lot again banned for 6 months so no clue just assuming if anything as scoots always been a bazaar main they don't really base or raid.

Tyla again busy guy, i think he deals with the more safeguarding aspect of perp (again assuming this since hes a IRL police officer)

however i get what multiple people are saying for a community to thrive have to have multiple factors one is gameplay loop which perp does have hence why people play it. The community itself which for a gmod server thats passed 5k ppl on the discord which for a server on a game like gmod is no small thing imo

The last one is the communication from staff to us the players.

I think as a consensus this is where the majority of people have an issue (again correct me if I'm wrong) but what would people want done about it like what would say needs to change as imo seeing mass RDM’s from older players just don’t cut it in terms of “servers dying”
If I was to say anything on the topic it would be more a case of asking to see more publicly what new things are being worked on maybe open up a discussion with players and SMT

But honestly im just throwing ideas out there soooo i could be interpreting things wrong

This is definitely true, we have been slacking on the updates (apart from the map updates). Our plan is to release a big new update soon. It will probably not fix your impression of the server immediately, but it will definitely go in the right direction.
It's quite difficult to change much for you to feel like the server is fresh, because you have been playing for almost a decade, but we will still try.
I can only assure you that the period of low updates is over and we will release them much more frequently after this big one.

Also, getting new players to like the server has always been a challenge. For one, they usually join and expect DarkRP, which is not at all what our server is. We already have the tutorial missions, but I am open to more suggestions how we can improve the experience here.

i have played perp since summer of 2024 and have 4month 17days of playtime and the mrdm was stupid but pretty much all of the finnish players have quit.

I think the tutorial could use a (fairly) in-depth section where it explains usage of /me and /desc and maybe /roll also demonstrates to players what is a possible false example(ex. Multiple actions or untruthful /desc), as many new players do not know this. I could also use an airtug promised to me 3000 years ago.

I remember me and my greek friends we had mug wars with your friends at drug dealer spots, you were breaking gp and stuff lol

Ive also noticed something like this, yesterday at like 120~ pop, me and a few org members were scouting for a raid, and the only base on the server (which wasn't a new player) as GS9 at slums warehouse, out of 120ish people, only 1 base on the entire server is crazy.

Completely agree. I hope there will be a surge in bases with the new drug update. I am not a raider, but sometimes you just want to bomb someone. I do not get many chances of that anymore.

The server's been like this for decent time barely any bases in the server to raid, that's because of the already on going problem weed planters around the map, doing cocaine is boring so nobody does so nobody is basing and what people tend to do hide in a rp looking base be inside that base with planters growing to waste a raiders raid time over a afk player, which the point of raiding is not raiding and seeing a afk player. That can be fixed adding new meta drugs that are fun to do and worth it which needs players to be there instead of the good old chuck a weed planter in a base and call it a day or hide them around the map, which is why I don't want @Fredy to buff weed and make it more worth it

At least one way to do this is just simplify the PLPD officers handbook and all the policies a basic officer has to follow, majority of new player officers are not reading it because it's a massive document to have to understand to play officer even casually which results in players who cannot or do not find organisations to join, to turn to the PD only to get blacklisted for minor shit and then quit all together
