Really bad lag

The RAM speeds itself might not be the fix as this could be custom assets struggling to load, however this is basically a fix for some free frames as Ryzen non-X3D are pretty memory sensitive. After this I suggest moving Garry's Mod to a SSD and removing your custom assets for now (such as sounds too, these might be causing your stutters).

Your CPU is pretty old, so I'd say it's probably causing those lag spikes, unfortunately.

When there's a lot going on, like lots of cars with headlights on, explosions, and people, your CPU can get overwhelmed and become a bottleneck.
@Ash! I mean there could be several factors. It might be a RAM issue, as Creepis said. If your game is installed on a hard drive, you should try moving it to an SSD, as that could also be causing the issue.

everything is perp content, where do i clear the cache, is it in the garrysmod folder?
Find your garrysmod install folder. If you didn't install it in a specific place, it's usually in ProgramFiles x86/Steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod
In there, delete the folder titled "cache". This will be rebuilt upon opening gmod again. You may run into more stuttering than usual the first time you join back after doing this, that's because your game will need to build a new cache. Give it some time to warm up.
