Really bad lag

AMD Ryzen 5 3500 6-Core Processor
32.0 GB ram
Your CPU is pretty old, so I'd say it's probably causing those lag spikes, unfortunately.

When there's a lot going on, like lots of cars with headlights on, explosions, and people, your CPU can get overwhelmed and become a bottleneck.

Used to have this shit happen to me every shootout

it's a really old video btw so this was before some performance fixes were implemented

no matter what I did to try fix it it'd happen so I reinstalled windows and the issue was gone, given you're getting a new PC soon, I wouldn't see the harm in trying that since you're moving to a new machine but I won't say my solution is the definitive one because of the magnitude of it especially if it persists afterwards

I recommend u getting the fps improving config aka the pixel config what i call it

Gmod is a CPU reliant game if you have any other clipping software especially medal it will fuck with your game like that I suffer the same issue if I have gmod and medal on at the same time it will nonstop keep on freezing/shitting itself

Maybe try unsubscribing from all workshop items besides the perp-specific ones? Free thing to try before investing in hardware. Also clearing your gmod cache is never a bad thing.
Gmod is quirky and sometimes these silly things fix your issue.

everything is perp content, where do i clear the cache, is it in the garrysmod folder?

Oh it can go that speed i looked it up, how do i increase it?
It's done through your BIOS. Look for a D.O.C.P/XMP setting, usually under overclocking or in a tab about memory, every BIOS is different. Tell me your rated speed for that RAM first though (also, are there two sticks populating slots 1+3 or slots 2+4? The setting should say Profile 1, enable that first and see where it goes.
Make sure you save at least a stable state of your BIOS in the profile tab, once done you can try 3200. If that is not stable you can go down to 3000.
