Dear mayor candidates
We all want to win the mayor ellections. Being mayor is the best paid job in the city that isn't whitelisted.
Don't spam advert chat, it doesn't make you a more likely candidate, just makes you annoying.
In my opinion, don't run for mayor if you don't have a basic understanding on how the taxes work. Play the game as a civilian for a while. You'll learn a lot.
If you're a mayor, try to make the city as good to the citizens as you can. You risk your life if you crank up the taxes and WILL be killed.
If there are no funds left in the city, don't crank up the taxes to the maximum. Put them at a reasonable percentage. The deafult taxes are good for gaining funds. Put yourself in the shoes of a citizen. Are you gonna buy materials at 50% taxes or 25% taxes?
More essential jobs and cars can't really hurt. Who's going to respond to your death if you have 6 cops and 1 SWAT. In my opinion, more cops is always better since crime happens constantly in the city. The gamemode is called PERPheads. Perp is just another word for criminal.
Don't start a full on dictatorship. It makes you more unlikely that you'll be ellected again, makes the citizens hate you and is just annoying. If a mayor did that to you, you wouldn't feel nice, now would you?
As a mayor, you should do:
Support local movements! People promoting healthy eating and various other things are good people to have on your side. Drive arround town, support bazzar shops and promote healthy behaviour such as visiting restaurants!
Make the taxes reasonable. 25% tax and 50% fuel tax is the best layout. Prices for materials are reasonable and everyone pays for gas no matter the price so you will gain enough money to rise the city funds. Cut the payment if you need to, but only to a reasonable ammount.
Establish a helpdesk. Tell your number in a brodcast and let people call you for thoughts on the city and listen to what they would improve! They are the people who need just one thing to go wrong before everything goes bad shit crazy. Have a notepad and pen next to you and write their number down in case they threaten you.
Don't be hostile to your citizens.
Organise events! One mayor made a hide and seek event and had a big cash prize! You don't need to have huge prizes, 5-10k will do the job. These events are good if you want the citizens to like you and you can bond with them
If possible, bring out some props like wood fences, chairs etc. Out before you run for mayor and have them in your inventory. You can assemble a small platform where you can hold speeches and have press conferences. I had one, and gained a lot of support!
Respect the men in blue! Even though they might seem incompotent at times, they are the guys who risk their life every day to keep order in YOUR city. Give them a reasoble payment and don't cut it too much. You don't want a 'prolonged response time' to your death, now do you?
