'An error occurred while updating Garry's Mod (disk write error)

Everytime I attempt to launch GMod, that happens.
I've tried reinstalling the game, verifying game files and bug fixing my C: drive.

Anyone know a way I can fix this?

Are you sure it's installing on the correct disk drive? How much storage do you have?

I have the same problem, my computer sees something of gmod as a virus: Gen.Variant.Kazy.5494 and blocks the update...

Try this:
1) Press the Windows key and type: cmd
2) Open "Command Prompt" as administrator
3) Enter the command "chkdsk <DRIVE GMOD IS INSTALLED ON> /r" for example "chksdk C: /r"
This will check if your hard drive is OK, if it finds bad sectors then it will attempt to recover them.

Am I the only one that has their anti-virus telling them that Garrys mod is a virus? I got this when I got my new PC and got rid of my heathen mac

I found the sollution... u have to exclude hl2.exe from your virus scan, that will do the job

Happened to me and I fixed it. All I did was disable windows defender, uninstall my antivirus and install the new update.
