Suggestion Title: Car security but different
Suggestion Description: Process of getting a car on perp is quite time consuming, hear me out:
You will most likely spawn at the CH, so when measuring the time from the bench in the middle to the CG NPC while holding alt all time(I had to somehow get a reasonable reading) it takes about 1 min and 30 sec(1:25.66 exactly)

After that you need to:
Have car security upgrade (500+$ + 1x trunk space + trunk weight [Bugatti can only hold 2 security upgrades in trunk for example])
OR
Drive down to subs storage to get the security upgrade from storage. (Driving with my Leaf[maybe avarage car, [ofc it would take me less in a bugatti] not breaking any laws took me additional 1min and 20 seconds)

Then it depends where were you planning on driving but that does not change anything.

My point is, every time you take a car out, you loose about 3 minutes at the beginning of the day, and about 500$ of your money to get it ready to drive and not get stolen.

Some people will use the 1x trunk storage to fit 5 uprgades, and then constantly remember to refill it when ran out, and some just drive up 2 storage or their property to get the upgrade attached.

This is all apart of the car being exchanged for another, put to garage or impounded - as then you loose the installed upgrade and have to pay additional 500.

-------------------

We have already gotten the darkweb mission to steal cars. I dont know the exact statistics, but I feel like the mission already is responsible for the majority of car thefts happening in paralake. If you want to just steal a car you take the mission - you get a fun car, a pursiut with police and some money as well!

We have already been through some organisations stealing cars constantly, or even abusing the system for org reputation. I was doing this myself too: 1. go steal car 2. drive stolen car to other car 3. steal other car 4. repeat.

-------------------

How about we either make it easier to install (i.e. option in the garage to take car out and for additional 500$ put the upgrade on it - make i easier, but let people choose if they want the upgrade each time or not)
OR
Create an ability to purchase one-time upgrade in the car upgrade NPC at car dealer with car security update (most realistic)
OR
maybe youll have a better way of solving this

Why should this be added?:
- time to get car with upgrade will be halved
- less annoying to remember to put the upgrade on
- less trunk space occupied in cars

What negatives could this have?:
- Well less cars overally will be able to be stolen, but hey, we got the chop shop mission

What problem would this suggestion solve?: An additional thing that has to be done just for the sake of it being done - installing the upgrade.

abusing the system for org reputation
yes it is "abuse" to do a crime that is mechanically efficient in growing your org reputation because you desire org reputation :troll:

If I'm being real, i don't like the security upgrade, It's just straight up powergaming by definition.

it's essentially paying chump change to make your car invincible. Every last player who decides to bring out their nice expensive car to the road and leave it unguarded with a magical security system that is somehow more secure than the XQ City Vault is untouchable. It's most ironic that you even said "Buy it one time at CG" because that would be the absolute worst solution. Everyone buys security because $500 is nothing, now nobody can steal any car except chop shop.

I have abit of a counter suggestion because I completely agree apart from I myself love stealing cars as I am a menace.

I believe that if the car alarm started from the point crowbarring began it would make it much more challenging.

If I went up to a car and started to break in it would alarm straight away, it wouldn’t wait till I’m with the engine on!

Yes i can see you were unaware of the fact that orgs were taking cars of their friends to some remote location and farming one single car for several hours to gain reputation.

I missed the whole point of your message though after the first sentence.

this is irrelevant, you're using the argument of people farming org rep with a friend's car as your main point as to why security upgrades should be on every car in the city for a $500 pocket change charge upon joining.

I'll simplify my point to you and repeat it.

>player join server
>player walk to city garage
>player pulls out car and gets $500 security
>everyone on the server does the same
>now suddenly everyone has invincible locks.
I missed the whole point of your message though after the first sentence.
no shit! because you didn't read :woot:

Well from what I've read you are mad that the security upgrade even exists in the first place, but then whats ironic about it being able to be bought at CG instead of a 1min30sec drive to storage or your property? Even for the same money, your pocket change 500$ each time?

The cars will still be invincible as with the current system, the difference is, I could buy the upgrade once for idk 20% of the car, so if its worth a million, I'd pay 200k and this would cover 400 single security upgrades. Nothing else changes. Its literally just the difference of my wasted time, as it would take me a total of 10 WHOLE HOURS to just mount the system on my car throught the 400 times.
This is even better when you consider a 3 mil car which will cost 600k and be worth 1200 singular security upgrades.

Have you considered that yourself? Do you mount the upgrade on your own cars if you hate it that much? Is it worth for you to waste approx 10 hours each year on perp just to go and install the upgrade?

Isn't that exactly what happens now?

If you wish to remove the car security system go ahead and make a suggestion about that, this is about something entirely different.

Starting off a rebuttal with accusing me of being mad as a response to me exposing an illogicality in your argument does not really help you out here.

I was never "mad," I said it's ironic that you used the realism argument because, Like I explained already, the security upgrade makes your vehicle a more secure property than the XQ City Vault via a powergaming mechanic (Definition: Powergaming definition). Furthermore, the level of inconvenience there is to installing it is good. This suggestion effectively would make car theft of player owned vehicles redundant and turn the server into a dark rp since everyone just buys invincibility device on connect.

In case you're wondering, I don't use security upgrades. I think they're mechanically inappropriate and had it not been part of the gamemode before, I can't imagine it being accepted as a suggestion nowadays.

I personally wouldn't like this to be added, it is extremely easy to put a car security upgrade on your vehicle should you wish to have it on, for example, majority of players typically have a few thousand on their person, If they would like to get the vehicle out at city garage, you can buy the car security upgrade at Safety First, not even 30 secs away and put it on your vehicle. In addition to this, majority of player's first actions when logging on, is to head to the casino for their free spins, which houses another location you can purchase the upgrade from.

In my opinion, this change is simply not needed.

the car alarm triggering the instant someone crowbars is pretty decent idea but should only trigger if it has the upgrade. the upgraded version also restarts the alarm sound when its succesfully picked and normal cars should of course still trigger when they are picked successfully but not during attempts. I think this would be a decent way for it to work.
