Its honestly becoming a joke now, any minor situation such as running from police instantly gets turned into a rulebreak (3.4) when in what world would a person who is simply running from police get gunned down (with no weapon or attempting to injure another person).

It would be nice to see 2.1 actually enforced instead of making it IA because I get warned for 3.4 when I run away unarmed and get shot by a cop who I can only make an IA about which has no consequence beyond the PLPD.
PLPD officers have access to multiple means of less-than-lethal options but they never use them and always result in them shooting. This is especially true for the godly TFU who only play for the shootouts. They are allowed to shoot people who are unarmed but I cant run away from police?

This double-standard just makes the police gunpoint everyone for any situation which I feel is far from being realistic.

3.3 is for realistic movement, not this.
You can say that it could be under 2.1 instead but the rule itself is pretty general.

I can see what you're getting at with some police officers gunpointing everyone in their path, and I know it's cliche but you can make an IA if an officer does this. In terms of being shot unarmed whilst running away, can you provide a situation in which this has happened? Because in most-to-all cases that's against the rules and the officer would be punished.

In terms of you being warned for running from the police, is this the same situation in which I warned you?

"PLPD officers have access to multiple means of less-than-lethal options but they never use them and always result in them shooting"

This is because when an officer uses less than lethal they whip out like a pistol or SMG and they get wrecked instantly by them so at this point it is shooting or dying no less lethal in the equation

Literally just had a situation where I was being gunpointed out of my car by the heaviest TFU in town, I was next to an ambulance so I ran and used that to break LOS and kept running. I was out of range of the voice of one officer but I was still in the vicinity of at least 5 police who have access to tasers and batons. They didn't even attempt to use any of these and the FIRST thing they did is shoot me.
Instead the TFU chose to shoot me in the leg and /looc stop breaking 3.4
Having no weapon on me or even attempting to kill a cop with a car I was still shot after I ran... highly realistic there.

With this I was in a pursuit with police, I attempted to drive away but I didn't hit any of the cops; I can see why the cop shotgunned my wheels even though that's a little questionable itself but what gets me is that they shot me when I was running away they decide to light me up when again I had no weapon and wasn't enough of a threat to warrant lethal force. But yet again I was shot and killed and the only course of action is an IA.

I have never seen an officer get warned for shooting at someone that wasn't blatant RDM (new person RDMing people at PD for example), instead they literally get told off by the highest rank and a slap on the wrist to not do it again.

So you generalise a few situations and approach everyone with the attitude "if they are running just kill them" to save yourself a 5min respawn timer

Officers resorting to exploiting 3.4 by drawing their firearms on suspects over any sort of resistance towards arrest is an issue I've been preaching about for awhile now. Officers are less interested in ensuring they act realistically and proportionately for the sake and integrity of the game and more interested in speed running arrests and escalating situations into shootings, but will jump into immediately making a report upon there actions being resisted to get that player punished.

Last time I tried a passive way, I got gped into a building leading to the place getting raided, one before that I tried to gp someone but the next second I was shot by a second guy, it only one sided kid, it is both ways, civilians are being too aggressive and cops are being too aggressive aswell

The police really need to start treating lethal weapons as just that, lethal.
Stop pointing them and threatening people willy-nilly and instead attempt to use a taser or be smart and call for backup.

Use a lethal weapon as a last resort for someone that is an active threat to a life.

I think a great way to push forward against this is to do cops who run around pointing there gun 24/7, it’s grounds for reprimand really, you should only point your gun if there’s a threat to life/exhausted all other means (in most cases)

might be something that staff start popping down on too

But the matter of the fact is police do not attempt to use any of the less-lethal options all they ressort to is a pistol over any offense even something as minor as someone avading/starting a police pursuit because of a traffic offence even if they have them boxxed in with their cars if the suspect still deceides to flee they do not attempt to use a taser or run after them since cops have way more stamania than a civ unless the civ preciesly spent 1/3 of their points in dexterity even if they can't catch up to them or taser them they will resort to their firearm not even attempt to aim for their legs they just go for body shots which resulats in someone dying. Because police do not know when to drop pursuits and they think the putrsuit ends when someone either dies or gets arrested. They can easily drop the pursuit go back to PD and ask a higher ranking officer to place an arrest warrant on them for what ever law they broke

Part of the problem in the situation you've just sent a video of is that even though they made no verbal communications (which I agree is weird), you should have got out and complied with a gun pointed at you. Running away was OK because they shot you (though that wouldn't have happened if you got out), then the officer shooting you was a direct violation of 2.5 and 4.1. If you'd like that cop dealt with, I'd be happy to do so, but you aren't completely in the right there.

In terms of them drawing the firearm in the first place, that's quite a controversial action in itself and part of the problem you're addressing but isn't worth an OOC punishment in itself.

I agree with what you've said mostly in this thread. I believe that most of the time, officers should only be resorting to their taser/baton when possible if someone is running away on foot (I pretty much do this all of the time). I only think it's reasonable and justifiable to shoot a suspect whos ignored gunpoint and running on foot (such as jumping out of a car) whos commited serious crime (e.g. such as killing multiple cops). I myself have done this a couple of times in the past and thought it was entirely justified as the person is likely to kill further police and ignored gunpoint completely. The issue I see is that people think 100% that they can ignore gunpoint and get away with it which really isn't the case as I've detailed in my post. But as I said, I believe officers should be resorting to less than lethal options most, if not all of the time.

Never understood why pistol cops don't get a taser by default, yes they can minge but just warn them/explain to them.
Its a hell of a lot better if one cop minges with a taser than every single cop only having access to a close-range baton and then a lethal weapon.

Might actually encourage people to be taken alive if they are fighting with a bat or a knife

In defence of the officers, people running away can be very very very annoying sometimes especially if it's a repeated offence so abusing use of force is the easiest solution to this.
Other than this, people tend to draw weapons and fire at the police after a failed attempt to evade them. This has happened way too many times so it's somewhat understandable that officers are so aggressive.

I can't say that I endorse this behaviour though, just that I understand how frustrating it may be for the officer's side.
Personally I tend to hold my weapon, or even point it if I catch a guy attempting to escape but I don't like shooting even if he runs away while I am gunpointing him point blank.

I completely agree, if someone has been clearly identified as a threat to life/has taken a life then its fair game to all the cops.

But I think its really stupid to try and enforce 3.4 on someone when they simply run away from police and then get shot because of the officers decision to open fire on a guy who wasn't a threat to a life.

One thing that some officers need to stop doing is gunpoint drivers for simply fleeing from traffic stops or non life threatening situations. They should resort to using the battering ram or spike strips which work equally as well. Not naming anyone of course but I've noticed this on multiple occasions.

I've played as a cop and yes people run away from you, but thats how policing works IRL. People run away and you need to catch them.
I just hate cops using 3.4 as a crutch to stop any potential RP

But the police will shoot someone that isn't a threat to their life because he decided to run away from gunpoint because of a minor offence the only time lethal force should be justifiable is when the police officers life is in danger and there is an immediate threat to their safety and the safery of everyone around them, because sure as hell every cop I have run accorss decides to pull the 3.4 card when they gunpoint you becasue of a minor offense and you try to run away then they open fire on a civilian that is unaremed and isn't a threath to them the only thing they're doing is fleeing

You battering ram my car without a word then point a gun at me... but apparently its against the rules to shoot at a cop who's pointing a gun at you when its 'reasonable'.
Which is another thing i disagree with
