I've switched operating system (Fedora Linux to openSUSE Tumbleweed) and now I can't play on the server. I play GMod with Proton and when I start loading the sever, it loads for a while then crashes. I also reinstalled Fedora and it doesn't work. Other servers seem to work. How do I fix this?

Seems to happen at loading Lua files? I've tried multiple Proton versions. (and yes, GMod has a native Linux version but its shite)

I exclusively play on Linux with the 64-bit branch, no Proton, and GModCEFCodecFix applied. With this combination, the in-game HTML browser works, and rarely get any crashes (only time is when I approach a crowded bazaar too fast).

I'll try the cef fix too. Using cef crashes my game. Thanks!

I can also confirm that this works and the native version of Garry's Mod runs much better than using proton.
GModCEFCodecFix applied & x86-64 Branch selected in betas
Fedora Linux

I've tried the CEF fix but the game just randomly crashes now. My normal Proton Hotfix has randomly broken this evening after working fine for 4 months.

Why can’t you just run it on Windows, maybe by dual booting a lightweight copy of the OS? Linux just honestly sucks for Gmod especially when you have to do extra steps to patch your game which still doesn’t guarantee fixes like you’re having here, I did used to play on Wine and it actually wasn’t bad personally but the performance not so much, stability was meh too but not too frequent.

Windows updates can often fuck up the Linux partitions. Also, my ssd is nowhere near big enough to dualboot.

Still randomly freezing with the cef codec fix, proton hotfix (which I've used for four months) has randomly fucked up and broken with gmod and any other proton version makes the game crash when the server gets to "lua started". It's genuinely unplayable.
