Issues joining the server

At the moment it won't let me join the server. I load gmod up like usual, go onto multiplayer and it doesn't show any servers or catergories. I then try joining through the IP and the 'Join Server' button on the forums but that doesn't work either. Steam cloud sync takes ages aswell. Any fixes. This has only occurred today.

Turned off computer and internet a couple of times, verified gmod, after that it was working again,
