Mic wont work.

When I use my mic on the laptop, it works fine. (has the single mic/audio combo port). However, when I plug it into my desktop (which has 2 ports sound and mic) it says "Line 2" and wont allow me to speak. Does anyone know a fix?

Whatever mic you have, set it as default device and default communication device in the sound settings. Turn off "Line 2".

Go to the Steam settings>voice and make sure that it has your microphone selected.

Test your microphone by pressing on that button or go in-game and write "voice_loopback 1" in the console. Speak, if you hear yourself then it works obviously.

Creepis, I don't even get the headset bit, just literally the Line 1 bit

a single combination pole will not work with Line in and Mic in. You are best off buying an adapter.
