Brief description of idea: Rework the armoury, exclusive to patrol

What benefits would this idea have for the department: Patrol has more of a reason. They are generally meant for more dire situations where a shootout may occur. This would mix into and work with the TFU Armoury, if the officer's division is Patrol. If needed, Could be for whole of PD

What potential negatives could this have for the department: None to my knowledge, just firearms moved down by 1 rank.

Other additions:

Officer:
Beretta M9
Glock 17
Walther P99
Senior Officer:
Previous Firearms +
Sig Sauer P226

2 things.
  1. Give a revolver such as the Colt Python to potentially CPL/SGT and above.
  2. Add back the pistol sights to the armoury.
1 to give more variety to the armoury and 2 because it makes it a whole lot easier for people like me who can’t aim (the irons on half the guns).

Also I personally believe a change like this should affect the entire PD and not just patrol, whilst traffic is more oriented and trained for traffic related issues I’m a supporter of the suggestion to make traffic a sub-division as it is more of a specialist role (or should be) that grants extra abilities and assets.

I strongly disagree with this being an entire PD thing, I believe it should be exclusive to patrol as:

-RTU Already have a plethora of benefits.
-Patrol officers dedicate more time on foot patrols of populated areas and are more likely to be caught on scene of the beginning of a shootout or other violent crime. This issue will amplify further for patrol officers ranked corporal or above, as they will not have time to get their shotgun from their trunk. Traffic officers typically would be patrolling highways or roads where a spontaneous shootout occurring is unlikely, and if they were responding to a shootout, they'd have time to get their shotgun out before arriving on scene.

I see no real downside to this idea if its exclusive to patrol.

Revolvers most likely won't ever be added from what I've heard from others all because not only do their take too long to reload but they aren't as easy to use compared to other guns which are more simple. Revolvers have been suggested multiple times and its usually the same reason.

@Jimmy Jackson well, from what has been said by others is that they aren't beneficial for the police because of the slow reloading times but guess they gave in and decided to do it anyways if it does ever get added

Make RTU an actual main division.
Give people a choice between patrol and rtu, have some benefits to join RTU but also drawbacks to think about the decision.
Giving patrol 1 more gun that you would normally get by receiving a promotion is a good start cause right now rtu is basically patrol with more and faster cars.

I think what Lelios meant by this is that when you join the PD you select either RTU or Patrol rather than having to take a test to join RTU, and by doing this Patrol would need a lot more upgrades to even get on the same level as RTU.

Yeah I know, maybe I phrased it wrong.
What I wanted to say is give patrol some advantages over RTU (like how rtu has faster cars and more props) and that this suggestion is a nice small start.

Edit: I was probably thinking of tfu. I always liked the idea of tfu being a main division along with rtu and patrol. I think it would be great.

This is a dumb idea imo, RTU should if anything be made into a secondary division. The only difference between the two divisions is that you get new cars in RTU. It would make much more sense to have RTU as a specialised division, rather than a full time Road unit.

@Samuel thats the point I tried to make earlier, I 100% agree. It would also mean managing the entire PD would possibly be easier as all officers would fall under one command team. This could also mean some rank changes and not so many high ranked officers.

I have never seen a patrol officer do a foot patrol other than me when I was doing a round as an unarmed community officer and when I was being paralake transport police
