Personal statement.

So I'm wondering if you guys can help me with writing my personal statement. I've got a general idea of what I need to write but I'm not sure how to word it. Does anybody have any tips or tricks so I can maximise its potential? I'm applying for a combined course of History & Politics and will obviously be talking about my work with Sky News etc but I'm unsure as of how to do it.

Not really homework but I'm hoping someone who's already done their 2nd-3rd draft could help.
