Main idea:
An ingame app for officers (and citizens) that are on/off duty to access the following:
A notebook, a list of wanted individuals, public announcements made by PLPD, traffic alerts made by PLPD and a direct link to PLPD.online.
Description:
App icon; The app would be located next to the existing 'Tooter' app:
Reason; The app would need an icon so that it could be opened by users.
Splash Screen; Upon the user opening the app, a splash screen will appear for 3 seconds:
Reason: Splash screens provide a hint of professionalism.
Main Menu; After the Splash Screen has passed, the user will be shown a selection of pages:
Reason; Allows quick and easy navigation between pages.
Notebook; allows the officer to make quick notes whilst conducting an investigation.
Reason; Officers would be able to make notes on investigations with time stamps so that they can refer back to at later times. Similar to the Notebook
Traffic Reports; Shows a list of traffic alerts that can be posted by an officer when on duty. (Would play a sound when a traffic alert is posted)
Reason; Adverts are made so that people are alerted about traffic incidents, officers would be able to quickly alert road users that there has been an incident and how they should proceed if entering that area, this also allows it to be done in a realistic manner as people in the past have said that they didn't see the billboard with it on.
Public Announcements; A list of announcements from various departments such as Patrol, Dispatch, Internal affairs etc. which would be pulled from a page within PLPD.online.
Reason; Allows better public relations with citizens as they would be able to know the ongoings of the police department.
Wanted List; Shows a list of wanted individuals that is pulled from the PLPD computer.
Reason; Allows citizens to be mindful about wanted individuals, also it allows officers to quickly check if an individual is wanted, without having to return to a squad car. Ideal for foot patrols.
Pros:
Allows officers to refer back to notes with time-stamps.
Allows officers/citizens to look through wanted individuals while on the go, generally improves safety and allows an officer to not be near a squad car.
Allows officers to make public announcements
Cons:
[Unlikely] Police officers may abuse the system to see if their friend is wanted.
Will be a ballache to make.
May make the police computer redundant
Notebook already exists in the form of the Notepad app.
May clutter the phone's menu.
