Suggestion Topic: 3.13 Selling Items
Suggestion Description: Banning "Mystery Boxes".
We have all seen them, especially in the last couple of days. "Mystery Boxes" with nothing but salt or ppk's in them.
I think we all can agree, that we hate scammers, right? These boxes are the easiest way to scam someone, without risking anything.
You mostly don't know who owned the box, so who are you going after?
Xao Higgins is the only one I know for a fact, that actually puts AS50's in some of his boxes (respect for that!). He's using them as a gambling way and I kinda feel bad that I want to take that away from him, but they became a plague.
Some of you might disagree on that and that's totally fine, but I think we should add to rule 3.13, that any kind of mystery boxes are not allowed.

For anyone wondering: No, I did NOT buy one and got scammed lol

Much love!

Why should this be added?:
- Make it harder to scam people, since it's the easiest way to get away with scamming.
- Stops people off buying salt for 40k

What negatives could this have?:
- Scammers would hate this rule to be added

I agree with this amendment.

This isnt like doing a /roll casino or similar, given the odds can easily be rigged 100% to the seller, there is no way this can be monitored or be "luck" based as its up to the seller if they are gonna scam people or not.

I can quite easily see this becoming very negative shortly with these popping up daily.

I don’t see any issue with mystery boxes, as long as the items inside all add up to the value of the box. There is a value issue right now that could be considered borderline unworthy and basically scamming.

Rather than outright banning them I’d rather see something like this:
“Items sold within chests must be accurately described and priced appropriately. If sold as a “Mystery box”, The items inside the chest should reach the approximate value the chest is sold at.”

An Example of this in practice could be a mystery box for 50k, which could contain random assortments of items, such as pistols, ammo, smaller items, etc. with no individual real high value as individual items but as a group make up the value of the boxes asking price, or it could contain a single AS50 thus still meeting the quota.

Dishonest pricing of such articles could already be considered violation of 3.13.

Agreed. With other player made casino games, it's at least possible to work out the odds and determine the house advantage, so you can #gambleaware, however these mystery boxes could be nothing but shit.

Sure, a rule could be added to regulate how mystery box type things must be done, however it would be a nuisance to enforce, and just lead to a lot of chancers going against the rule. I think taking a half-measure like that would just lead to people trying to get around it.

As a certified casino runner I use those mystery boxes and I put things in them, now in the last few days you are right they spread like a virus all through baazar. Now I dont want this to be removed since people make their own decisions and can always buy from more trusted sources instead of a baazar shop with an overpriced beretta m9 and a 2k bat. Scammers can sell like 4 and word around town spreads and they wont sell a single one ever again.
