The Sovereign Military Order of Malta
''tuitio fidei et obsequium pauperum''
"Defence of the faith and assistance to the poor."
The Fraternitas Hospitalaria Hospital,
was founded in around 1048 by Blessed Gerard of Jerusalem.
A hospital which housed both, christians, muslims and jews
After the crusade of Jerusalem in 1099,
the hospital became a military order
it was recognized as sovereign by Pope Paschal II,
After losing the City of Acre in 1291,
The Order settled in Cyprus (1291),
This was not for long however as in 1310,
the order settled on Rhodes,
After winning against The Ottoman Empire:
"At the Siege of Rhodes (1480) outnumbered 3500-70000".
Following a 2 month long siege severely outnumbered (200000-7500)
The Hospitallers had to surrender, and were exiled,
A big mistake from Suleimans part however.
As the Hospitallers resettled in 1530 on the island of Malta.
a year after a siege in 1565,
(Great Siege of Malta (1565) outnumbered 70,000-4000)
(which the Hospitallers won)
Suleiman died (1566)
In 1798 The Order of Saint John surrendered to Napoleon's forces
In 1834 they got new headquarters in Rome (Palazzo dell'Ordine di Malta)
They still exist as a orginization that helps the poor, and has multiple Hospitals across the world.

Rules concerning Squires:
1) They must be trusted to become a Companion-at-Arms
2) They will need to have enough experience to become a Companion-at-Arms.(1 week)
3) You must prove yourself worthy to our cause before being able to be a Companion-at-Arms
Companion-At-Arms – An applicant must be of at least 3 weeks of being a Companion-at-Arms before becoming a Sergeant. They must prove themself's worthy. If the Prior accepts them, they receive their Certificate at the end of this 3 week period. If they are not accepted, They can try again on a later period
Sergeant – After their 3 weeks all those accepted members become Sergeants. A Sergeant will need to spend no less than 2 months as a Sergeant to become a Sergeant 1st class. A Sergeant is a Mentor in the Temple. They strive to help their Brothers and Sisters along in their learning process. More is expected of a Sergeant than a Companion-At-Arms.
There are 3 promotions available to Sergeants:
1) Staff Sergeant – Assists the Sergeant Major
2) Sergeant 1st class – The highest rank of Sergeant but not higher then Sergeant Major who has demonstrated leadership and compassion.(Eligible to become a Knight)
Becomes eligible to be promoted to Sergeant Major or chargé d’affaires.
3) Sergeant Major – There is only one Sergeant Major who is responsible for and oversees the Sergeant’s Corp. (Eligible to become a Knight {If he wants to})
Knight – Actual Knighthood granted, and duty is expected to his or her community, and at a higher level as a Templar. “Knight” is used by men & women equally. Christian men who reach this “Knight” rank are given the honorific title of Chevalier. Females who reach the “Knight” rank are given the honorific title of Chevaleresse (Eligible to become a Knight Of Grace)
Knight of Grace – A Knight who has demonstrated selfless giving to the needy or who has volunteered above and beyond selflessly.(Eligible to become a Knight of Justice)
Knight of Justice – A Knight who has demonstrated potential leadership ability. They have been a leader among their peers in several situations. (Eligible to become Knight LT.)
Knight Supervisor Ranks
A Knight Officer is the general category for a Senior Knight. They have gone above and beyond for the Order. A “Knight Officer” includes all the below ranks:
Knight Lieutenant – The first level of a “Knight Supervisor.” A “Knight Lieutenant” is a ranked Officer within a Priory or Commandery that is trusted for extra responsibility and duties. They have demonstrated faithfulness to their Commanders. They don’t have their own group to command but perform a function or purpose within their priory.(Eligible to become a Knight Commander)
Knight Commander – A Knight who is given a Commandery consisting of at a least 2 other knights besides the Commander (total of 3).
Prior– A Prior oversees a group of at least 3 members (4 in total). Thus when a Knight Commander grows his Commandery to that level, he’s eligible for a promotion to “Prior.”
