The Pumpkin Bandits
Hello everyone, this is Phoenix Ratsworn, police corporal and amateur reporter, and welcome to a tale of littering, premature holiday spirit and minor breaches of the Geneva Convetion. A highlight of the oddities in Paralake, a unique city with an even more unique population.
Our story starts with a group of people. These people were strange, they saw it was september and felt a strange sensation overtake them, clouding their thoughts and pulling at their hearts. The halloween spirit. It had come early this year, perhaps. So excited were they to spread their cheer that they decided to leave gifts around Paralake. Pumpkins. Everywhere. In the PD, the lobby, the road outside, even spilling onto shady street. These pumpkins knew no borders, and were dropped wherever there was space.
I first encountered Baz Ravish, Bobby Moretti and Alebasi Carrot when I found them in the holding cell. They were being held for trespassing in the police department. At the time, I thought nothing of the pumpkins, I figured the department had some kind of early celebration planned for halloween, given that many officers on duty wouldn't live to see it. They were charged and release for their crime.
The second time, I was driving to PD after a hard shift, ready to clock off and put my feet up. When I approached PD in my cruiser, my car ran into a sea of pumpkins. They were everywhere. I saw the exact same people outside of the PD, and knew that I had to dig deeper. I brought them all to the interrogation rooms. At first, they were unwilling to talk. Baz Ravish especially was a tough cookie. He wouldn't say a word. So I decided to focus on Robert. After some "enhanced interrogation tactics," Robert confessed that Baz was the mastermind behind the pumpkins. I gave him a ticket and released them all, with a stern warning that I would not tolerate any more out of season festivities.
Confident they would try to enact their horrible orange schemes again, I initaited a stakeout. Here, I gathered evidence of them planning their despicable deeds:
I knew exactly what they were up to. Baz's threats were enough to convince me they meant business. Shortly afterwards, I followed them to the police department:
Soon enough, my suspicions would be confirmed completely:
I knew it was time to strike before any more pumpkins were placed. I took them all in again. Baz was as uncooperative as ever, and Robert managed to escape and flee the city. I finally had enough proof to bring the hammer down, and I did, issuing Baz Ravish, the mastermind, the man behind the pumpkin, a $1,000 ticket for littering.
These criminals may still be on the loose, so look out for a pumpkin near you. Until next time, Paralake...
