Punishment Type: Warning
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @sza
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: Not Applicable

Your Steam Name: totario1
Your Roleplay Name: Mark Zendoro
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:569800326

Why were you punished?: 2.5 | Gunned a man down he perceived as a threat when they were unarmed and not a threat at all.

Why should this appeal be considered?: I would like to dispute the warning I received, as I feel that the situation was caused by the actions of the other player, which led to my mistaken judgment. Before attempting to approach the mayor, the player went up the elevator and trespassed on the second floor with their phone out, which the mayor mistook for a weapon. The man was standing in a dark area, making it difficult for me to properly identify him. The mayor then shouted multiple times that he was the one with a gun, and in that moment of confusion, I reacted, believing the player was a threat.

This could have easily been avoided if the player had taken a more appropriate approach by either advertising a request to meet with the mayor or contacting someone to help facilitate the communication. Instead, they chose to trespass without any clear intent to approach the mayor in a proper manner and instead just full sprinted towards us. Additionally, the city was in a very tense situation, with the mayor receiving multiple threats during a financial bailout which I'm sure the player himself didn't even know was going on, so the level of caution was already extremely high as also for all the recent attempted raids.

I believe that the situation was highly confusing and was a result of the other player's actions including the mayors which the mayor had already taken full blame for and wishes it could be the other way around. I've never been involved in an incident like this before because I always strive to be cautious and aware of the surroundings. I feel the blame should not solely fall on me, given the circumstances and the confusion that arose.

I have already made an apology, showing that I meant no harm and clarifying how this situation was invalid. I am now submitting this dispute because I feel it is unfair that I am being directly targeted for this incident, while the actions of the other two players leading up to it were not fully considered. I don’t believe I deserve these long-term consequences, as this was a reasonable mistake made in a high pressure situation. I kindly ask for the warning to be removed, as I believe the circumstances were misinterpreted.

Additional Information: The clip is from the mayors perspective, If you really want to hear his say on the situation his discord is 'Chapxe' and he is willing to discuss this as we both feel its just wrong to punish me for that.

Unfortunately, I do not have a clip saved from my own perspective of the incident. However, I am more than willing to provide my explanation or answer any questions you might have in another way to clarify my actions during the situation. If possible, I would also be willing to reenact the situation, as I’m confident anyone else in my position would have made the same decision under the same circumstances. Please let me know if there's any other method I can use to help provide more context. As I am unaware of any I can currently give myself and I hope to not have to stop the investigation here.

From my perspective, a player sprinted up to the stairs and immediately went into a dark area. The mayor started shouting 'GUN GUN GUN GUN GUN' repeatedly, which caused me to believe there was an immediate threat. The individual was in a dark spot, and it was impossible to properly assess who they were in the time I was given to respond, which led to my reaction.

Given the ongoing situations in the city with all the adverts, death threats, including the financial bailout, it made no sense for anyone to be up there at that time to just be trespassing around. The confusion was extreme, and I was under the impression that there was a potential shooter again heading towards the mayor and honestly was given barley a chance to assess anything.

I have almost a month of playtime, and I would never intentionally make such a mistake. This was a misjudgement in the heat of the moment, and I sincerely believe it was an understandable mistake under the circumstances.

I don’t believe I should be solely at fault, as both players involved made their own mistakes that contributed to the situation. I feel that this was provoked by their actions entirely and should be considered as part of the larger context. If the mayor hadn’t suddenly screamed 'GUN GUN GUN' while running, I would have obviously acted differently. Likewise, if the player had never gone up there in the first place and instead scheduled a proper meeting or at least even announced themselves, this situation wouldn’t have happened at all

This situation was a mix of misjudgements and bad circumstances. A player sprinted up unannounced, the mayor panicked and yelled 'GUN' multiple times, and the darkness made it impossible to properly see. Given the city's tense state, I reacted to what seemed like an immediate threat. I don’t believe I should be solely blamed, as the actions of others led to this outcome just as much as mine. It’s frustrating knowing this will have a lasting impact on me moving forward if it isn’t properly reviewed and understood for what it truly was.

I really don’t like being warned for something I genuinely believe was valid and just an honest misunderstanding. I’m so confident that I won’t make this mistake again that I’d even accept a month-long ban or any harsher punishment for this same rule in the future. That’s how certain I am that this was a one-time situation caused by unfortunate circumstances. So I sincerely beg you to believe me and take my word just this one time.
