Something bad enough happening inside the PD that pushed you to the point to resign, assuming it was by someone with power
It was someone outside of the normal chain of command, so while I appreciate the sentiment behind your point, it doesn't correlate with what I was saying.

After speaking to someone else I just wanted to clarify my point as I didn't maybe make sense, I do not want upper staff to get it not purely because they can't/do not deserve it but because voting will be done by higher staff members/pd members. I want the the next CoD to be a fair chance from anyone who applies but I bet that the people who will vote on this matter already know who they want and are messaging him to apply right now.
I've played a lot time and this issue of fairness comes up a lot especially in the PD, a few years ago it went hand in hand, staff = high PD rank, sure it's been a while since I've played and I'm only just back, but falling back into that pattern if it does not exist right now is not something I'd like to see happen again, because it sucked.

My overall point is I just want staff to actually think about a fair way for someone who deserves it to get the role, not just because they're good friends with the people in upper echelons of PD/Staff and they're 'known' by them.

Sorry if I am missing the point here, but why on earth does it matter if someone is a high rank in the PD and also a staff member as long as they can provably do both at the same time?

People seem to act like there is some r/conspiracy going on, where staff members or those already in some degree of power can be the only ones to hold a decent rank in the PD. Have you not thought that the people who get accepted for and involved in server staff positions might have a little more experience managing people, performing administrative tasks and have a general higher standard of roleplay?

As for a better topic of conversation, I'm struggling to really think who on earth could be better than @Acerius when it comes to running the PD - It's a sad shame that he felt he needed to resign, perhaps more questions should be asked as to why someone so dedicated, believed resigning from a role he loved was so necessary. We're missing out on probably one of the best-equipped people for the job, let's hope any future candiates don't turn out to be an errant shit guzzler, which I am aware is likely.

Also on behalf of everyone reading, shut the fuck up @Inchs

Perhaps more questions should be asked. Or a private apology from the concerned party would suffice.

We can dig up the old Slayerduck stuff if you can't remember why PD was fucked a few years ago, letting the community have somewhat of a say in how their PD is run could help prevent issues

I've let it go, I'm just trying to say a point that when the staff and PD team starts to heavily mix it can get difficult to manage and that it should just be made as public as possible with community input. Sure the chance of a minge pick being voted highly is possible, but then it'd be easy to step in and just not follow through.
I don't understand why people are so afraid to let the community in a bit on the process if there is nothing to hide?

Because a high % of the people who vote don't have a rank above officer within the PD or regularly RP as an officer. The staff team have NO SAYING in who gets any ranks within the PD, especially not the Chief ranks.

Collier stated in a post above that'd it'd be senior members who would get to decide, not sure if he meant staff, PD or perhaps both.

The community won't get any input on how the PD is run just because the Chief is decided by a popularity contest. It is up to the next Chief to sufficiently engage with the wants of the community once they are chosen.

He literally said the owners, the community managers and him.

If you're so afraid of the community vote put together the actual worthwhile applications and proceed on voting from there as a good middle ground, you get someone 'serious' and the community gets a say on what they want next

Hope everything goes well, gets sorted out and you reconsider coming back, you're pretty much the only CoD that was reliable more than anyone PERP has seen before and always took the role on to a much more higher standard than what was expected really.

Why would members of the community that's not a part of PLPD have a vote in something that doesn't affect them?

If you wanted members of the PD that have the rank of senior officer and above, I understand. But if everyone vote for people then it's gonna be a popularity contest and timewaster for management when it turns out to be someone incompetent who doesn't know the different from law 9.2 ,9.5 or 9.6.

Anybody can become apart of the PD, the exam isn't hard, therefore the vote would then affect them
Like I said to Collier, a compromise where a handful of applications are selected, all of people deemed 'serious' enough to hold the rank, then hold a vote from that.

Who is gonna deem them "serious"? It's just another popularity contest and it's really not productive.

The people who would have previously under Colliers suggested method have just straight up chosen someone.
If they take a handful of people they think made good applications the community can then vote on any number of good/serious applications.
