This would have been acceptable if the user was armed, because he could quickly go around the corner without you being able to react as the door covered him and he could’ve drawn his firearm at that point and defended himself.

However, he ran out and left himself exposed, he didn’t have any form of protection and was in your sights for a prolonged time for which you could’ve easily killed him.
