Suggestion Title: Electronic highway signs
Suggestion Description: Variable message signs that are held on gantries above the highway in strategic locations. These signs would be configurable by Traffic Officers (and perhaps Dispatcher+) via the Police Computer and have multiple states to indicate the status of the lane that they represent.

These signs would warn drivers of an oncoming incident in that lane well before they approach it, reducing high-speed collisions and incorrect lane placement causing accidents, while improving officer safety and the flow of traffic.

The sign states would be:

Off (default)

Slide3.PNG
(a green arrow, indicating that lane is open to all traffic)

Slide5.PNG
(a white arrow, advising drivers to exit that lane)

Slide4.PNG
(a red cross, drivers must not continue in this lane)

Slide2.PNG
(a white number, advising drivers to reduce their speed to this limit)

Slide1.PNG
(a white number in a red circle, drivers must obey this speed limit for that section)

* If having a variable number in this place is not an option, perhaps have set values (30, 40, 50, etc.)

If a sign is set to a state and the officer logs off, it will reset back to its original state (off) within 5 minutes.

These signs could be part of the base map, or be entities that are placed automatically on server restart.
This idea was suggested and denied 6 years ago in 2016. However, a lot has changed since then, including road traffic and speeds being almost doubled.

Why should this be added?:
+ Huge quality of life feature for both emergency services (including roadcrew, medics, and firefighters) and normal citizens alike.
+ Reduces collisions from unaware drivers, would likely increase driver safety and awareness, and allows traffic to flow smoothly during the lane closures.
+ Definitely warranted given the constant abandoned vehicles/hazards in the roadway causing an almost-constant danger.
+ Compliments the use of the PBC function, as well as traffic control measures such as contraflow movement, cones, and barriers well, while also meaning that officers can immediately close a lane during an incident where cones cannot be placed down quickly enough.
+ Immersive and intuitive system that would modernize the city and be more appropriate as Paralake approaches the year 2070.
+ A lot more positive aspects that I haven't listed here, such as allowing roleplay like checkpoints and lane narrowing to be much more accessible.
+ The gantries (overhead frames used to hold up the signs) used for these could also be used for directional signage, which is under-development for V6, and for extra CCTV placement so Dispatch has a more comprehensive highway overview.

What negatives could this have?:
- Requires the implementation of a map script to be connected with a new server menu, on top of the mapping and texturing work required.
- Requires additional training and scrutiny for Road Traffic Officers to prevent misuse. This could be rectified by rank-restricting the menu.

Awsome idea! Maybe it could be a feature for RTO’s, with a specific rank+? Could be an option in the police computer to change it.

Would be cool if Dispatch had access to manage this as well since they could do it based on CCTV.

Good idea, added that to the suggestion.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, RTOs. Not sure if a police rank is necessary as most RTOs are held to the same standard and it's fairly easily manageable, but that's up to traffic command
