PARALAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Head of Operations Services and Professional Standards Appointments
Dear colleagues,
Following the new appointments in the Office of the Chiefs of Department, two vacancies became available for both the Head of Operations Services and Professional Standards. Applications were opened to those meeting the requirements on Sunday 11 August 2024, with applications having closed today on Saturday 17 August 2024 at 19:00 BST.
As a combined pool there were 18 applicants with the vast majority lodging an application for both roles. After a rigorous sift of the written applications, regrettably we were unable to progress 8 of the applicants to the final deliberations. Nonetheless we thank them for taking the time to apply and showcase themselves.
The final deliberations consisting of the remaining 10 applicants were very strenuous due to the strength identified through their written applications. Extensive discussions were held on each candidate identifying both desirable qualities and concerns. It is clear that the talent pool during this selection process was vast, however only 2 vacancies were available and difficult decisions had to be made.
After these extensive deliberations, the Office of the Chiefs of Department have come to a collective decision on the appointments, and are pleased to announce the following:
- We welcome @Aquaa as a new Major within the Senior Management Team as the Head of Operations Services
- We welcome @Collier as a new Major within the Senior Management Team as the Head of Professional Standards
All candidates who regrettably were not moved forward from their written application to the final deliberations, as well as candidates who did make it to final deliberations but were ultimately not chosen, are welcome to make a Helpdesk Ticket to the Office of the Chiefs of Department to receive some feedback.
Both Majors will serve a probation period of 2 months whereby their behavioural approach, performance, and activity will be heavily scrutinised by the Office of the Chiefs of Department. Any required replacements to their current posts will also be overseen by the Office of the Chiefs of Department. There will also be an expectation that transformation identified within their written applications is committed to and that there will be robust performance management, even when their probationary period is complete if they remain in-post.
We look forward to working together collectively as a Senior Management Team to bring about the transformation this Department and its colleagues deserve. Once again, thank you to all those who applied, and congratulations to @Aquaa and @Collier.
Many thanks,
Office of the Chiefs of Department
