You want to build strategic defenses, make sure your “crosshair placement” is good so you’re aiming head level and use a gun you’re comfortable with. When holding, use an angle you don’t think they will pre-aim. If a grenade is thrown duck behind cover sprint away if you think it’s lethal. Don’t waste all your ammo suppressing fire, you can suppress but preserve so you don’t get pushed while you reload. Wallbang people if they crowbar your door but don’t get yourself killed by return fire. Call police when a raid is started so they flank for you faster. Use grenades and learn them, they can be good to throw at / out your door.

Invest in some base props, have some friends who can flank for you, or have a couple in the base don't matter, always use a rifle and try to hold an angle. Obviously not the same angle each time the raider peeks
All honesty, no one here can provide you with a game sense which is the most crucial factor, it will improve as you play, there aren't many tips people can give you to make you the "great" player, you win some and you lose some, learn to lose and not cry it's virtual items
