Not as risky anymore, since most modern motherboards have Dual BIOS.BIOS updates are risky btw, you fuck it up you brick the laptop
Drivers are all good, tried doing some backdates too.make sure the gpu driver are updated
also the bios
when you join game open msi after burner and watch gpu/cpu temp might be over heat
Even though I don't use laptop, I've been randomly crashing while gaming and it was bios problems (2 years without a bios update for my b550 aorus elite v2).Drivers are all good, tried doing some backdates too.
Will be trying BIOS today!
Have checked temps and all ok
A laptop is a laptop not a computerAs you can probably tell, I think my computer is fucked.
To start, my specs are as follows;

Before anyone comes along and says 'JUST GET A PC', i have a laptop for a reason!
Suck your mother.
I have had the laptop for around 3 months with little to no problems, however, the past few days things have turned sour.
Every single game I play crashes. The crashes are usually around 5 mins into the game and result in a black screen then return to the application not responding. I have had one instance of the blue screen of sadness which restarted and was gone. I have to close the application and everything is simply unplayable.
I have played around and discovered that the reason for the crashes is the GPU
The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
\Device\Video5
Error occurred on GPUID: 100
The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table
Essentially, my PC thinks the GPU has disconnected.
I have tried multiple things including backdating my GPU drivers, full clean install etc.
As its a laptop am i doomed or is there more i can do?

I'll try these steps...You could try removing all your display drivers using DDU. Then, download all of the OEM display drivers from Acer's drivers page. Remove your ethernet/wifi to make sure that when your computer reboots, Windows isn't going to automatically install a video driver. Then, install all the drivers you downloaded.
Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.8.7
Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) - Remove AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL Graphics Drivers Cleanly - DDU is a driver removal utility that helps you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, leaving no leftovers behind, including registry keys, folders, files...www.guru3d.com
Besides this you can enable Debug Mode in the NVIDIA control panel. This will set the Graphics chip to factory default settings and disable any OEM adjustments to your card too see if this changes anything.
To be fair i don't think your laptop is broken. Google trends shows a really large increase in people searching for this error since october. My guess would be that something is wrong with drivers or firmware. It could have also been the result of a windows Update as since Crowdstrike Windows is making large changes in how the Windows OS handles drivers.\
Another thing that might help is disabling Fast Startup in Windows. Fast Startup loads a cached driver, there might be an issues in that cache. It's a silly feature you're not going to miss anyway.
If this is all because of a windows update I would be very not surprisedYou could try removing all your display drivers using DDU. If not, do you reckon i just have to wait for windows to update a fix?
Yeah Windows 11 24H2(The october update) is quite buggy and includes driver and GPU changes. Google this error and you'll find loads of support.microsoft.com and reddit threads with people having this issue. The people having this issue earlier than october are the victims of being test guinea pigs for this update. Most people update later, rightfully so, and are just discovering this issue. It's an ongoing issue not yet recognised by NVIDIA or Microsoft so there is not an official fix, just a bunch of own experience fixes. If this is all because of a windows update I would be very not surprised
Gaming laptops eventually just die and there is nothing you can do due to how much of a pain it is to replace components, I used to be a die hard gaming laptop enjoyer that refused to get a PC but after 3-4 laptops I eventually switched to an actual PC and never had the issue again
