Is my computer fucked?

I'd suggest running a multitude of different stress tests on OCCT and seeing if that also crashes your system

As you can probably tell, I think my computer is fucked.

To start, my specs are as follows;

Before anyone comes along and says 'JUST GET A PC', i have a laptop for a reason!
Suck your mother.

I have had the laptop for around 3 months with little to no problems, however, the past few days things have turned sour.

Every single game I play crashes. The crashes are usually around 5 mins into the game and result in a black screen then return to the application not responding. I have had one instance of the blue screen of sadness which restarted and was gone. I have to close the application and everything is simply unplayable.

I have played around and discovered that the reason for the crashes is the GPU

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video5
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Essentially, my PC thinks the GPU has disconnected.

I have tried multiple things including backdating my GPU drivers, full clean install etc.

As its a laptop am i doomed or is there more i can do?
A laptop is a laptop not a computer

You could try removing all your display drivers using DDU. Then, download all of the OEM display drivers from Acer's drivers page. Remove your ethernet/wifi to make sure that when your computer reboots, Windows isn't going to automatically install a video driver. Then, install all the drivers you downloaded.

Besides this you can enable Debug Mode in the NVIDIA control panel. This will set the Graphics chip to factory default settings and disable any OEM adjustments to your card too see if this changes anything.

To be fair i don't think your laptop is broken. Google trends shows a really large increase in people searching for this error since october. My guess would be that something is wrong with drivers or firmware. It could have also been the result of a windows Update as since Crowdstrike Windows is making large changes in how the Windows OS handles drivers.

Another thing that might help is disabling Fast Startup in Windows. Fast Startup loads a cached driver, there might be an issues in that cache. It's a silly feature you're not going to miss anyway.

I'll try these steps...

If not, do you reckon i just have to wait for windows to update a fix?

If this is all because of a windows update I would be very not surprised

There's a few other solutions that could work i have in mind but I recommend doing the steps i recommened you first as they don't have any downsides. Don't give up just yet :)

Yeah Windows 11 24H2(The october update) is quite buggy and includes driver and GPU changes. Google this error and you'll find loads of support.microsoft.com and reddit threads with people having this issue. The people having this issue earlier than october are the victims of being test guinea pigs for this update. Most people update later, rightfully so, and are just discovering this issue. It's an ongoing issue not yet recognised by NVIDIA or Microsoft so there is not an official fix, just a bunch of own experience fixes.

Gaming laptops eventually just die and there is nothing you can do due to how much of a pain it is to replace components, I used to be a die hard gaming laptop enjoyer that refused to get a PC but after 3-4 laptops I eventually switched to an actual PC and never had the issue again

This is my first ever laptop.

sold my PC and bought this as moved in with the Mrs to save up for a house. If this was a year ago I would just go out and buy a decent PC but I can’t really justify it when I only play once a week.
