New Police Shotgun - The Suggestion

Main Idea: Replace the Police Shotgun (Remington 870) with the Mossberg.

Full description of the idea: It's very simple, just read above ^

Why should it be added?: There has been some debate for a long time over a replacement for the Remington. People call it weak, people call it just right (police OP lol.) However, upon suggesting the Mossberg I received nothing but positive responses. Multiple high ranking PLPD officers and some who oppose giving them weaponry such as the MP5 agreed with the suggestion. The list at time of writing is as follows:

Overall, the replacement draws an ideal compromise between the two opinions on the matter, giving the police a more powerful firearm whilst keeping it in the same category as the Remington.

Pros: Regular police officers hold more power against criminals

Cons: None have yet to be suggested.

I would love to get @Jordan 's opinion on this as well.

This is a good idea, as many police departments in real life use the Remington 870, but some are actually changing towards the more modern Mossberg shotguns.

I have to disagree with this idea. Although anyone who is a corporal+ can agree that the remington is not a great gun, it does what it needs to do. The shotgun should mainly be used for things like felony stops, raids, and anything else at close range. If the combination of your shotgun and pistol can not handle a situation, SWAT should be able to deal with it. This addition would make SWAT used way less and an all around boring job.

I would personally like another weapon, as there is a choice of pistols, there should be a choice of a couple of shotguns at least.

While I strongly oppose giving officers a automatic weapon I think that a pump shotgun, the Mossberg would be appropriate.

I use my pistol exclusively now because I find it way more useful than our current shotgun. We need a change. Make PERPheads great again

Let's be honest, a change definitely wouldn't go amiss. If not a change, an addition as Chris suggested above. Give officers the choice between a couple of guns so they can be satisfied with whatever weapon they choose to use.

I do support this. I feel it would be a good improvement for the PLPD.

I've been against replacing the shotgun with another shotgun since it has been the range that has been the problem, however the mossberg is really not that bad in accuracy. Not a lot of spread in it.

Mossberg would pretty much solve the problem with the remington. I Support this.

It's funny because when I use shotguns I can hit people 30-50 feet away, like I did with @Fredy at bazaar when he was testing revolvers

But yeah, it'd be great to change the remmie to a mossberg.

the police need to get some love after u added in some real stronK guns for civs.

As Officer, u easily get 1 or 2 shotted now with this new revolvers. And they can pull em out of nowhere, they are way to cheap as well (no magazine) and try to shoot somsone with ur baretta when they got a revolver, he must be freaking bad to kill him...

Also the Swat weapons are bad compared the the civ weapons.
Mp5 10 mm for example for civ, mp5 9mm for swat. The swat weapons over all are not rly g00d anymore.

As a normal officer, its kinda stupid to only have a normal baretta, which is honestly pretty crap.

Nah but I do like this idea, not just for the balancing, but from a visual aspect. It's not common to see modern police forces with older wooden stock weapons, so having a more modernised shotgun would bring the PLPD into the 21st century, so to speak.

Also, I do find that when I show up to a raid I rarely bother with my remi as I don't feel confident using it, due to how shit it is in comparison to the weapons we usually encounter, and I know this view is shared by some others.

TL;DR: Mossberg cos I want it.

I'll just throw it our there, the Remington is probably the gun I have most of my kills with, the reason you may have a bad experience with it is because you may be using it wrong, everyone knows shotguns just don't do long range, however close range this things a beast when you take your time and don't just quickly fire all your bullets, just keep the gun steady and you'll do better with it. No need to change the shotgun in my opinion.
