Recently my pc overheated due to me being fat and not cleaning or looking at the temps. Before it crashed i had 12GB of ram. When i booted it back up i only had 4gbs, but CPU-Z still says i have 12 and my Bios says that i have 4 any ideas..

probably a motherboard error. Try booting a game, looking at the amount of memory being used or swapping the RAM sticks around.

Search for MSConfig

Go to the 'Boot' tab, select the OS and press on 'Advanced options...', from there a new window will open where you can set your maximum memory. Since you have 12GB put in 12228, I'm sure if you leave it unticked with a 0 it would work the same.
