rule 3.15 why.....

I want to raise this respectfully, because I genuinely enjoy the server and want the RP to feel as consistent as possible.

Rule 3.15 says we must drive stolen vehicles to the best of our ability and avoid crashes, with exceptions only when survival is at stake. That makes sense for a civilian in a chase.

But here's the tension in a serious life RP, a criminal who just stole a car knows the city has an active, well equipped police force. The realistic response isn't drive carefully so I don't crash it's get rid of this car as fast as possible, because every second I keep it is a second closer to a felony charge.

So the rule, as written, asks criminals to behave like cautious drivers rather than like people who just committed a crime. In real life, a stolen car is a liability, not a vehicle you treat gently. The moment cops are on the server, the logical move is to ditch it, swap it, or abandon it not to preserve it.

I'm not asking for the rule to be removed. I'm suggesting the RP would feel more consistent if the rule acknowledged that keeping a stolen vehicle is itself a risk, and that abandoning it is a valid, realistic choice not just an exception for survival.

Happy to hear how staff see it. Just wanted to put the thought out there constructively.

That framing I enjoy the server, here's a consistency question, not a complaint is what keeps it from reading as rule lawyering or an attack on staff.

Hey, great on you for asking.

The rule does not exist to make sure you behave as an outstanding, well-behaved citizen while you are driving a stolen car. It makes sense, and usually is fine if you use the car to break traffic laws (keep 3.4 in mind ofcourse) to escape from police custody or to get to your destination to then dump the vehicle, if in this case you somehow crash or damage the car, it is not the end of the world.

The rule mainly exists to stop people from stealing a car, solely to damage it by just ramming other people, walls, etc etc. Or purposely wrecking a car, (could fall under 2.5 in certain circumstances.)

No staff member will punish you for driving 60-70 in a 40 while trying to leave a highly populated area and then accidentally crashing into a medic that is driving down the wrong side of the road.

You would be punished if you drove 120 mph down the wrong side of the highway for seemingly no reason (no police chase and no other option left)

Hope this helps ;)

The rules are not based around what a real criminal would do.

also you are allowed to abandon the car and drive recklessly if you are being chased you cant just do it for no reason

Any real criminal would also drive to avoid crashes at all times because crashes hurt.

It is, however, your god given right to drive a little bit recklessly in a stolen car for two reasons:

  1. You stole it to joyride
  2. You are likely unfamiliar with how it operates

Hey, your buddy their ban reason explicitly states the thing I also mentioned before. 3.15 - User drove a stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed on the wrong way of the highway, causing $74,000 in damage to the victim player's car. That is probably why they got banned, they put the vehicle at too much of a risk than what the current situation required. If your buddy disagrees though they can always make a ban dispute and other staff will investigate the situation again.

I'm curious about a law within the game are we able to arrest players if they're involved with a drug crime well we already know that but like are we are we supposed to arrest someone that owns the property that recently got through a raid and we went inside their base obviously with a warrant and we noticed that half their bathroom is filled with weed are we allowed to arrest the homeowner as well because to what I know in real life if you're involved with weed you you would get arrested too for own the property if you were aware of the situation
