This is a suggestion to add a policy regarding the impoundment of vehicles.

This policy currently does not exist.

What policy do you wish to add:
Under normal circumstances an officer must attempt to get in contact with the owner of an abandoned or illegally parked vehicle to investigate the reasoning behind their vehicle being in the location and condition it is in. This should be done via a phone call, text, or checking the area for the owner. This can be disregarded if the vehicle directly obstructs the highway and its on or off ramps, or if the owner of the vehicle is in custody.

Why should this change/addition be made:

Stops cops insta-nicking your car for no real beneficial reason because its parked illegally without knowing why they are parked there.
Cops actually take time investigating like their supposed to.
Cops have ANPR and finding the identity of someone wont take long.

Can't upvote or downvote for this section? Anyway sounds good yeah, cops should contact people like IRL unless it's too severe.
