Weather and mainly Rain

Opinions on rain coming back to perp?
What did you not like about rain that you would like to be removed or changed if it was to come back?
Feel free to discuss/add anything about the weather system in general, the rain is the main focus because it is considered the most annoying.


This isn't necessarily going to be added, just something I personally want to see what people think about.

the rain noise is quite loud in my opinion it should be toned to the lowest volume possible

i also think you should add thunder and big KABOOMS to jumpscare people and super thick fog as well

yes i would love to see rain snow [obviously with some of the snow texturing fixed] and all sorts it would make perp more interesting also as rogue said have thunder that cracks and scares people to death

I wouldn't mind rain coming back but as stated can we please lower the volume of the sound or add a volume option for weather in the F1 menu.

you could also with thunder storms add random [well ''random] thunder strikes in the forest etc that causes fire's when fire fighters are on

The snow textures are only for christmas, they wouldn't be there if it just snowed. I'll take it as you want them to be there depending on the weather though.

Only have 1 variant of rain which would be light rain, there were versions of rain were it would be pissing down heavily and you couldn't make out anything which was really annoying and also hurting performance.

tornados were absolutely aids, dont ever implement them back

The same arguments were brought up in the following suggestion. Rain sounds add an actual advantage to someone if they want to be stealth, and if people can turn it off, it gives a huge advantage to potential defenders who will be able to hear player movements. If we're going to have rain back, everyone needs to have it on.

Would they have any impact on gameplay? How do you imagine them

My imagining of some disasters (and general weather) would be as following. Before they occur, they should be announced well prior, and they should remain very rare.

Earthquake - screen shakes for about 30 seconds. If you attempt to alt run, you take damage as if you were splinted and you are ragdolled. This may look ridiculous if everyone starts doing it, so perhaps just the screenshake.

Heavy gust and windstorm variation - moves players slightly in a direction when they're standing still, or accelerating movement towards the same direction, likewise slowing them down if they attempt to run against it. I was thinking it wouldn't trigger in-doors like fireworks aren't allowed when it checks for roofs.

Fog - Clouds areas infront of a player, up to a certain (reasonable) distance.

Heat waves - fires would erupt very often in all forest areas.

Thunderstorms with rain - a lightning has a chance to hit random parts of the map, causing a fire and spreading further if flammable.

Solar flare - 911 becomes unavailable through phone call or message for a period of 10 minutes. Chats such as /gov would still work.

Blizzards and hailstorms - being outside any property or building (ideally it would still hurt in areas such as bazaar) deals very low damage over time. Having a car outside damages the engine very slowly.


I tried to be realistic in what can be done, hope you find them reasonable.

You can just stopsound in console though
