PLPD Guide for New Players
_______________________________________________________________________________
(Please don't give me crap for how bad this looks thus far, I haven't edited it to a level I am proud of, but I am posting the first version of it in the hope it'll help someone)
Most recent edit 25th Aug 2016
This is a VERY basic tutorial for non-whitelisted officers to follow when they are new. It isn't supposed to be detailed, special or anything like that. Just the basics for being a police officer when you are brand new to PERPHeads. There is guides by people like Tyla, but hoping this will be slightly different and easier to take in. I was asked to make this by a few cops, so I'm feeling good enough to do it.
All image titles will be changed, I didn't have time to anything proper for now..
When you join the PLPD the first thing you'll experience is the PD lobby. Once you walk in, you'll find the senior officer at the front desk. This is your portal for all things policing. It is where you become a Police Officer, Traffic Officer and Dispatcher. From here, you can do the initial police exam, this is 4 questions you have to answer in order to be recruited as a police officer for the PLPD. VIP's do not have to do this exam if they become a traffic officer, as traffic officer jobs do not require an exam. However, police officers do require you to fill in the exam in order for you to become an officer. For this, the main thing you'll need is a basic law knowledge, rule knowledge and common sense. If you fail the exam, you have a 1 hour wait before you can retake the exam. But, don't be hurt if you don't pass the exam first time. It isn't easy for our newer players to do, and most definitely can seem like hell on earth to do. The reason all major jobs require an examination is to prevent people trolling or not being ready for the job and therefore causing havoc.
When you pass your exam to become an officer, you need to see the senior officer and ask him/her for a job as an officer (or traffic officer for VIP). If the mayor has set the slots low, you may not be able to bag yourself a job. You can always ask the mayor to increase the job slots but most of the time you'll just have to wait.
As soon as you become an officer, you get given a pistol, nightstick, misdemeanor ticket book and handcuffs. You will have a flashlight as standard, and in your inventory you have a battering ram and binoculars.
When you go back to the NPC, you can claim a vehicle. The choice of vehicle that unwhitelisted officers have is smaller then higher ranks, but you can claim and drive the Ford Crown Victoria police vehicle and the Dodge Charger interceptor vehicle. If there is no vehicles for you to take, then it could be because the mayor has not increased vehicle slots enough, or because all vehicles are simply taken by other officers. In this situation you should either ask in text gov chat (/gov) for a partner or proceed to do a foot patrol. (never jaywalk)
Before you head out on your patrol, you will want to go into the main PD via the blue door in the lobby and see the officer in the kitchen area who will offer you roadkit and bandages. You should take this equipment on every patrol you entail.
Police radio codes (please study before becoming an officer): Radio Codes
Police vehicle controls (please study before becoming an officer): Police Vehicle Controls
Scenario's which could help you:
"Oh <insert naughty word here>, I've ran out of armor!"
Solution: Go to PD, down the first flight of stairs from private car park, turn left away from Interrogation Rooms, then look for the sign saying "armory", you can refill ammo here too.
"My tires have been burst
"
Call roadcrew (call 565 or use /rc) and specify where you are. Ask to be towed to a vehicle repair location either in city or bazaar. There you can use the NPC to get your tires repaired.
"I've caused an accident in my police car (or: I have been involved in an accident)"
Call for a backup unit for traffic, and if you believe it was your fault then call a higher ranking officer. Any injured parties you should always call a medic, and any fires be sure to call the fire department.

As a normal officer you are sadly at the bottom of the ranks, but none the less, still a valuable member of the PLPD. The next rank up is a senior officer and to become that, you will need to fill in the application form on perpheads.com when they are open and recruiting in academy.
As a normal police officer you must respect one another but must follow orders from higher ranks then your self, but if you feel a higher rank may be abusing their power, make sure that you report it on the forums.
Sometimes a higher ranking official may recommend you to become senior, and so when the applications become open you can use them as a reference, and it may help you proceed through stage one of the senior officer application.
Patrolling
It's always good to have a partner to patrol with, some one who has your back when things turn sour, so if possible try to partner up.
When paroling make sure that you stick to the traffic laws and also the laws, meaning no speeding or illegal u turns.
If you manage to spot illegal activity happening whilst paroling then radio into dispatch if they are in service, if not just radio it still and an officer may respond depending on the how severe the crime is.
The radio tool is a very useful thing for the gov services, as it helps people find wanted people, request back up, or report something in that is across the other side of the city.
The talk based radio is normally for emergencies, or if you have found a highly wanted suspect.
The text based radio is for non emergenies, so say you need a partner you can request one through that, or if you need a pick up.
Please remember to keep the radio as professional as you can, refrain from doing long unnecessary transmissions as well and always avoid using offensive language or profanity at any given time.
When you are an officer, you can always switch to SWAT just as long as you are VIP. This means that as long as you've got a valid Premium package on the server then you can happily and easily become S.W.A.T.
The S.W.A.T team is to be ready to deploy at any given time to incidents across the city. If, for example, Suburbs House 2 had a mass shootout and officers were pressing their panic buttons then S.W.A.T would respond immediately to assist.
The purpose of S.W.A.T over the main police department is simple. The team are heavily armed and experienced with the firearms they are using. They have a decent array of weapons in the armory just waiting to be used by the team whenever and if ever they are called out. Often in raids and sticky situations, the team move in before normal officers to attempt to detain any unarmed suspects or kill any armed and dangerous suspects. S.W.A.T should never open fire without good reason.
The team are usually supplied a heavily armored vehicle by the mayor to use in their duties, meaning that any armed suspects who shoot at the arriving vehicle will be annoyed by the armored van you turn up in. It doesn't make you immune, but it helps you dodge a lot of shots.
(Below this line written @Thomas Fredrick)
Road Traffic Collision - Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs) are vehicle accidents (or deliberate collisions) involving at least one vehicle. The general response to this is Code-3 (lights and sirens). Often, medics are needed for this type of call, and firefighters can be needed if any fire occurs.
Reports of person with a gun - (with dispatch): there is reports of a person with a gun, dispatch has assigned you to the incident (example: incident #123), you should respond on Code-3 (lights and sirens), when you arrive you should assess the situation, have your gun ready but do not fire warning shots. Call for additional units if you need them. S.W.A.T can respond if gunshots have been fired.
Vehicle pursuit - Several things can occur here. Whilst fleeing an unarmed suspect who dodged police (usually some tart in a mini), you can follow the vehicle whilst giving radio updates by holding down B and talking. If the vehicle is dangerous enough and you have authorisation from a higher rank, you can preform a T-Pac maneuver on the vehicle.

Title> Academy and Recruitment
The PLPD has a dedicated academy specialising in those applying for the next step in their officer career. The early ranking structure is quite easy to understand, when you first join and play before waiting to apply for senior officer then you are a non-whitelisted (or non ranked) officer.
The next stage is applying for Senior Officer. Applications are handled by the PLPD Academy, who's dedicated members will look through your application you create when applying for senior officer to find any mistakes or improvements that need to be made. Depending on the severity of your mistakes in your initial application, you can either get accepted or denied by a PTA or PTO.
The academy strictly has two ranks, PTA which stands for Police Training Assistant and PTO which stands for Police Training Officer. The Police Training Assistant's are simply Training Officers in training. This means that the Assistants will not have the same experience in the field as the Officers, but still are a valued part of the PLPD academy.
If you pass Stage 1 of your application, then you'll be given a training assistant or officer who will issue you with a selection of questions you'll need to answer. These are challenging scenario questions, so be sure to read the law and the rules before moving up to Stage 2.
After Stage 2, the verdict will be made on wether to move you up to Stage 3 to do a supervised patrol with a PTA or PTO, or wether you've failed and you should wait a while before applying again.
In the event that you've passed, you should prepare yourself for a supervised patrol which will last between 25 minutes to an hour. Usually, these will realistically take about half an hour, but sometimes assessors may decide to take longer to get a better picture of your skills.

This is yet to be edited further, but this is V1 of the guide. Hope you like it and shoutout to @ijokerxo for the second part of this.
(Please PM me directly alerting me of any mistakes, don't fill this post full of notices regarding my mistakes)
Images will be replaced when I have time to make proper ones. Thank you. Hope this helps.
