Ping issue

Hi, so there is this issue with my gmod. Randomly my game will just become extremely choppy and then it will become normal again and then my ping skyrockets and while this happens everyone freezes. And this issue is absoloute hell to play with it makes it genuinely impossible to drive cars, since when im driving it just makes it so i cant turn or brake or anything. I have a very good pc and alright internet. But the weird thing is that this only happens in gmod, it doesn't affect my discord neither does this happen in any other game. As for the random ping spikes, I believe it's very rare on Perp however the entire server gets the spike and not just yourself, I've experienced it a few times but not that many and every time I've spoken about it, People will often say they just got it too which means it's not just yourself.

No, this has been happening for over 2 months, and my friends have not experienced it once. And it is extremely often and happens more on perpheads than any other server. But other servers have the same issue for me. And i also have not had this problem forever.

Ensure your drivers are updated and you have no corrupted game files. Try close any background apps and see if it persists.

My drivers are update and i verified integrity of game files yesterday

Worth a check as this was driving me nuts like a decade ago, I had a modem with a Puma 6 chipset that are apparently known to be defective. Replaced my modem with one without Puma and the issue disappeared. Puma 7 reportedly has some small issues too.

I have no idea what chipset my modem has. But its just weird the issue suddenly started happening without me changing the modem or ethernet or nothing.

Find your model number on the back and look up “Puma6 modem defect list” to see if it’s on there - I would link a site but it’s unfortunately loaded with ads

But isnt it still weird that it only happens in gmod no other games or applications are affected by this?

Yeah that def is a little strange i would check your network settings.
