It was inevitable that the role would fall upon an existing staff member though.

I think Dom was probably the best person for the role anyway since he is highly respected in the community and well known however I don't think he has been given a chance yet to actually prove that picking him was a good choice.

However, if people disagree then why not do what was said in the original post for Community Manager selection. @Dom_ can serve as Community Manager for 3 months as stated in the post and then a vote can be held to decide if people want @Dom_ to stay as Community Manager or if a re-selection should be held in which a vote for Community Manager will be held. However, if a lack of suitable candidates apply so basically people who don't meet the requirements then Dom will receive Community Manager back.

But again, I would vote Dom anyway so this doesn't matter to me.
