Discussion regarding the applications for CoD

The day has come where @Samuel has decided to resign, even if I've been a meme about it because of him not playing actively on our server I must thank @Samuel for his work within the PD, it's pretty obvious we don't see all the work you've done behind the scenes.

However, I know that a lot of members (including myself) are not happy with this decision;
with this people are going to be thinking that you've accepted someone because of your social contact with them, let's say @Ayjay would get CoD again, you(samuel) and Ayjay are good friends and people will give you both backlash for it and the conspiracy that the PD is family run.
Which isn't good for the server as it's currently rebuilding it's playerbase.

I think that a system where either the community would select the next CoD or the staff team would select one would be the best system possible.

We will together create a poll with a couple of people that we think have a chance to lead the PD, from that list the community will vote.

You as the past CoD shouldn't have any word in it though.

I am still CoD... PD is a big and complex organization, it was decided to do this as staff team could not choose a new COD for some reason. We want to make sure that the person chosen actually got a chance to run the PD, that's why we together will read through the apps and create a list. Me as COD and my team are probably the only once that can give input from a PD perspective, staff team have no idea how PD works.

And to add onto that, we the PD or staff don't choose cod, the community does. We just gather names of people interested, and people that actually are serious.

@Samuel but in the end you're the one picking the applicant. That's just like saying the staff team doesn't choose enforcers.

@Samuel I think what Daymon's point is that while it is a community vote, you are still the ones in charge of allowing people to run for it. It's kinda like how the North Korean voting system works. Sure, other applicants can technically run, it's just not allowed by the government. It's a bit of an extreme example, but it's sorta how he looks at it. I don't doubt that you and SA will pick good candidates, but I think it's the uncertainty. I think it certainly helps that it's a public form though, props to you all for that.

In the end I am one of several that decides if a person have the right skills to lead the PD. Staff team had a chance to choose the CoD, they spent a while and came up with nothing. This is the way we decided to do it, to get community feedback. So it's really us letting you choose based of a list of people that we think can run the PD.

Only other option would be a open vote, so people can vote for anyone. And we all know that would probably end badly.

Even though I understand that you use the senior adminstration team for this @Samuel I still can't think it's a good idea considering they're all friends with ayjay, which is still going to give you huge amounts of backlash if he's picked. You have to see our point in this, it's ridiculous.

you realise that the winner is picked by majority via the community and the lineup of candidates is pretty much anybody who isn't trolling right?

Honestly, and nothing against ayjay, but he should be able to run, the point is to get new leadership in the PD and it seems like we're just transitioning between the 2 chiefs. I also dont like the fact that Samuel can just pick a name out of a hat if he wants, makes the poll seem kind of useless
