Update Log 15/08/2024 - PLPD Changes, AFK Property Autosale, Chop Shop Expansion and more
This is a large update that contains numerous changes to other systems within the server, as well as large department and code changes within the PLPD that are aimed to improve the overall experience for the average player. This update post also comes with some great news!
New and Returning Developers
I am very happy to announce that @kasperr will be joining our development team, and @Ezza will be returning to it, myself and the rest of the development team are looking forward to their future contributions!
PLPD QoL Changes
- All RTU related duties are now based on having the RTU gear equipped within the PD
- You can now be in both RTU and Patrol at the same time
- RTU hours are tracked on PLPD Online as time spent in the gear, rather then based on wearing the high vis vest
- Certain barricades and patrol cars are no longer accessible while in RTU gear
- Papa units now go to 9 and can be used regardless of gear
- Papa Bravo radio group added, and is for people who are in only patrol gear
- TFU, and Traffic radio channels are now based on usage of the gear, rather then access to the division
- Changed certain permission overrides for more senior members of the department
- Sergeants no longer get traditionally RTU items (Wheel-clamp, and speedgun)
- RTO Gear now has slightly reduced armor
Planned Tactical Firearms Unit Changes
This change will not be within this update, but will be within a future update, due to the nature of the change and in the interest of transparency we feel as though it would be best to give you a small preview of the coming change with some basic information. All the information in this thread will be elaborated on at a later date. There will be new roles added to TFU, taking the form of a certification process, this aims to make TFU more attainable for the average player, while also providing more seasoned players who enjoy the grind a form of progression.New Roles (Names will be changed upon release):
Tier 1:
A basic loadout with a lighter blue uniform, designed as an introductory role to TFU. This position has strict limitations on tasks and equipment, focusing on supporting higher tiers of TFU while gaining experience. Unlike full TFU members, this role is not intended for advanced operations but provides a starting point for those interested in advancing within the division. Players can choose to stay at this level for a more accessible experience or move forward as they gain knowledge. This role is obtained through a more basic process than the current application.
Tier 2:
This is the role that all current TFOs will be grandfathered into, with the exception of a very small group. This role is identical to the current iteration of TFU, with all the same weapons, roles, and responsibilities. This role will have a similar application process to the current iteration of TFU, however with the idea that you would be entering it with experience gained through the first tier.
Tier 3:
This is the upper level of TFU, and is designed to be extremely difficult to obtain, this role is designed for those who enjoy the grind and progression within the PLPD, and exists to reward those people who go above and beyond. This role will be held by a very limited group of people, and to reflect this, they have been given a slightly improved loadout, as well as other abilities...
Property timer
We’ve noticed an ongoing issue where properties are being purchased but then left unused for extended periods. To address this, we’re introducing a new Property Timer System that, hopefully, will help keep properties active and available. This system will force-sell unused properties. How It Works:
- Property Usage Monitoring:
- The system now tracks activity on your properties. If neither the property's chest nor any of its doors are used within 1 hour and 30 minutes, a prompt will appear asking if you wish to keep or sell the property.
- First Prompt:
- When the prompt appears, you’ll have 1 minute to respond. If you wish to keep the property, you can deny the sale. However, you only get to deny this sale ONCE.
- Failing to respond within the 1 minute window will result in an automatic sale.
- Second Prompt - Automatic Sale:
- If 45 minutes pass after the first prompt without any interaction with the property, the property will be sold automatically.
Shops are exempt. At least for now.
Following feedback in the following weeks, the time interval between prompts might be adjusted.
Chop Shop Changes
We've been paying close attention to the feedback and the gameplay dynamics of the chop shop mission. It’s clear that players have been taking advantage of the previous system, making the mission less challenging and more of a quick profit grind. To address this and enhance the overall experience, we've introduced some exciting new stages to the mission that will require more strategy, caution, and skill.
Whats new?
- No More Instant Payouts:
- After successfully evading the cops and dropping off the stolen car, players will no longer receive an immediate bank transfer. This change is designed to prevent the easy loophole of turning yourself in after the drop-off with little consequence.
- Lay Low Stage:
- After the car drop-off, the mission isn't over. You must now lay low for a while and avoid police attention. During this stage, if you die, join a job or get arrested the mission is failed.
- Retrieve the Money:
- For the final stage, you’ll need to retrieve a bag of money from a designated location on the map. (Special thanks to @kasperr for the model)
- Here’s the catch: only you can see the bag, but be careful! Some of these locations are in muggable areas, so while other players can’t see your reward, they can still mug you for the cash if you're not careful.
New UI skins
Added 3 new UI Skins; green, orange and pink.
Debris system
No more /me checks if someone attempted to break in.
- When a crowbar, lockpick, clamp or handcuffs are broken, a broken down version spawns and stays for a while.
- New models by @kasperr. Thank you!
- Debris disappear faster if there's no Police nearby.
- Debris can't be moved, has no collision box.
Road Crew
Made it less grindy, competitive amongst active workers.- Removed Senior Technician Rank. Structure now looks like this:
- Apprentice
- Technician
- (senior was here, now removed)
- Road Management Officer (can impound illegally parked vehicles without Police authorization).
- Fixed a bug where impounding did not give any XP.
- Impound XP is shared between online Road Crew workers.
Other
- The Mayor now receives equipment while on the job.
- 1x Flashlight
- 1x Binoculars
- 5x Bandage
- 1x Splint
- 2x Paralake Flag
- EMS Radio channels increased from 3 to 6.
- Rolls, dice rolls, card draws and coin flips are now green, to prevent people faking them.
- Added /card alias to /draw.
- Improvements to the on-screen keybind hint UI for new players.
- Casino jackpots trigger a small firework show
As per usual, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this update: @GP @Maia @peeps @Carrot @Fredy @kasperr @rogue
