We need new players

Would that not already exist with current helpers?
I feel like helpers are only used because it helps to get enforcer.
Would love to see this rank being used by people that are actually willing to help and doesn’t use it because it has to.

This might be a rather old thread but..

Maybe make a separate rank for people that are dedicated to help; I wouldn't mind helping new players and having a sort of report for fellow helping-peeps to help new players sounds very fitting and useful.
Maybe we could call the role "Helper"? Maybe give them a yellow rank so as to be distinctive!

There is already such a role.
@Harley It isn't a requirement for enforcer, however, it helps when they make a decision.

We don't need new players. You need to accept the fact that this community isn't ever going to get better, it is at the most a distant reminder of a few funny times we all had when we were children. No matter how much courage, or monthly posts of desired improvement/criticisms you try to offer us, it's never ever going to improve long-term. Sure, we might get a new member of Senior Administration and maybe a few updates might release twice a year... but the issues go deeper than that and require much more than a temporary band-aid to fix the gaping wounds.
I'm not going to sit here and repeat what has been said for too long, I am simply here telling you to give up and move on with your lives. We're now scraping the very bottom of the barrel, looking for solutions for something that is irremediable.

The illness has been terminal for way too long, and I think it's time to pull the plug and stop embarrassing ourselves.

To quote the finale of my favourite TV show... it was nice while it lasted, right?

Read: I don't enjoy PERP so you shouldn't.

Summer will fix player count, also when exam times are over dw

Woah Harley said some true words

That would however be the best case, for something simple to inform people a video introduction would be the best idea for now.

An interactive introduction would definitely be better!
That does sound like a great idea and if people actually wanna make this / code it im in to help.

Half of the forums is full of threads talking about how awful the server is, coupled with the dwindling player count over the past couple of years, go figure.
The player count is literally higher than when you were active? Have you looked at game tracker. It was at 50+ players till 12 last night.

I agree, we need new players, but sitting here and saying "We need new players" won't work, Users need to actively start helping/continue to help, new players. I highly doubt a new player will instantly sign up to the forums, after all, I only signed up after about 2 weeks of playing.

As I said, we need to actively continue to help new players, not take them as just a "New Player". If you show yourself as welcoming and a mindset to helping users, you are more likely going to get them to stay, then leave after 30 minutes. We just need to identify what is making these new users struggle and leave. Perhaps a sort of Survey that is asked of these users after A couple of hours of gameplay, then again after a couple of days.

Maybe an interactive intro would be the way to go which will show you around town. Saw the idea here and i think it will help keeping players as they will understand alot more and faster. I wouldnt mind helping to code this if the developers dont have enough time on their hands.

The first ‘response’ to this was to create a guides website, which, in hindsight, I don’t think many new players want to read for 20 minutes before playing the server.
a lot of people have thrown around the idea of a video ‘tutorial’, which I think would be great. A 1-3 minute video on some of the things you can do and a very basic ‘tutorial’ on how to do these would help a lot I think, with the guides website still being used for more in depth knowledge on these things.

I’d be more than happy to help with a video if people did want to organise something like this.

You say that but it's really easy to help new players as a result of just the written tutorials as you can direct them there for the majority of things. I have spoken to several new players in the past week who have read the guide. I spoke to one last night who said the medic guide was really helpful. I don't think you can make this claim without actually speaking to some new players. However you are right, video format would be much more useful.
