We watch anime for the same reason people sit down and watch reality television shows. It's entertaining, a way to escape some boring realities and I'd rather watch an animated character go through intense writing and perfectly crafted character origins and development than watching a 15-year-old girl say 'catch me outside, how about that'.
There's also an anime to fit everyone's taste (quite literally) I highly doubt you'll not find a category of your liking. For me personally, I get a buzz watching good fights like this one:

I don't see whats so good about cartoons with there tits hanging out. Firstly I thought we stopped watching cartoons by the age of 5 and secondly if you wanna see some tiddy's go on pornhub or something. I really don't see the fascination with anime :/

It's because the people normally hating on us "weebs" suffer from psycho-obsessive delusions that all we ever do is watch anime and all that entails is us jerking off to small anime girls or huge anime tits and having body pillows stiff enough to walk on their own while also filled with mushrooms after never having been washed after being sexually ravaged by us filthy weebs.
If you ask me, it's just them projecting their own insecurities unto us because the only thing they themselves can think of when hearing the word anime is the sexual exploitation of underage anime girls and the fact that they themselves really get off on that stuff.
