The first ‘response’ to this was to create a guides website, which, in hindsight, I don’t think many new players want to read for 20 minutes before playing the server.
a lot of people have thrown around the idea of a video ‘tutorial’, which I think would be great. A 1-3 minute video on some of the things you can do and a very basic ‘tutorial’ on how to do these would help a lot I think, with the guides website still being used for more in depth knowledge on these things.

I’d be more than happy to help with a video if people did want to organise something like this.
I got to the drawing board for a miniseries of 1-2 minute videos teaching players about small aspects of getting started, with the potential help of @Kurze, @rogue and @Blocked, however I’ve just been far too busy recently to carry that through. Id like to give it a real crack over next week and I’m sure we could use your help, even if that’s just ideas about it.

You say that but it's really easy to help new players as a result of just the written tutorials as you can direct them there for the majority of things. I have spoken to several new players in the past week who have read the guide. I spoke to one last night who said the medic guide was really helpful. I don't think you can make this claim without actually speaking to some new players. However you are right, video format would be much more useful.
I completely agree with you, but 99% of people don’t want to read all the guides, Ofcourse the ones who do will find them useful, but currently, if you want to understand the ‘perp’ game mode, you need somewhat of a base knowledge in most things, which to get currently either takes an insane amount of time reading guides or even longer in game trying to figure it out
Imo, a small video that gives a really strong base knowledge in everything would really help people chose what they want to do and if the game is correct for them, at that point they might read further into whatever ‘path’ they chose in the way of reading guides, but until then I think a video would really help and stop the need to read so much about things you may not be interested in

As long as tutorials, written or visual, are kept short and are interesting throughout, they’re massively effective. The problem is when you have a guide like mine (outdated) with far too many words. Don’t get me wrong, it was intended to be a detailed guide, but it just drags on.

Perp is stale, game mode is about getting the most money and cars.

New players join and see 8 people all in one apartment with 500 rifles in each storage bunny hopping and wiping the PD, they stand no chance so leave.

No reward for helping new players, spent a lot of my time doing it in private but was still shit on by administration at times unjustifiably.

As @Ayjay said, move on and accept perp isnt what it once was, you’re all to blame.

We don't need new players. You need to accept the fact that this community isn't ever going to get better, it is at the most a distant reminder of a few funny times we all had when we were children. No matter how much courage, or monthly posts of desired improvement/criticisms you try to offer us, it's never ever going to improve long-term. Sure, we might get a new member of Senior Administration and maybe a few updates might release twice a year... but the issues go deeper than that and require much more than a temporary band-aid to fix the gaping wounds.
I'm not going to sit here and repeat what has been said for too long, I am simply here telling you to give up and move on with your lives. We're now scraping the very bottom of the barrel, looking for solutions for something that is irremediable.

The illness has been terminal for way too long, and I think it's time to pull the plug and stop embarrassing ourselves.

To quote the finale of my favourite TV show... it was nice while it lasted, right?

A summary of this and all other threads:

- Perp is dying.
- Perp is dying, but summer will bring it back
- Perp is dying, but only because of the lack of updates
- Perp is dying, because the updates aren't good enough.
- Perp is dying, however only because nazi mods.
- Perp is dying because the mods aren't doing anything
- Perp is dying because we cannot make cool orgs anymore while wearing carrot costumes
- Perp is dying because there are too many OP orgs with carrot costumes
- Perp is dying and it's for the better that we all continue on with our miserable lives and think about the fun memories you had with strangers on the internet.
- perp is in fact not dying, school started and people have exams.

nostalgic feelings over perp, this is so sad, alexa play weird fishes by radiohead

I don't know if it's still common, but raping a new players base with an org is pretty discouraging as well, considering how expensive the setup to make drugs is

I once got raped by a new player with his baton, then @Super_ laughed at me and banned me -10/10 for empathy there

my msg disappeared ok

I said idk if this still happens but it's pretty discouraging to new players if they get raided by an org and lose all of their expensive drug equipment

It first showed that I replied to another message, so I tried to remove it to post it seperately, refreshed like 3 times to make sure it's not there but now it appeared again

the reason why no one barely plays anymore is because it's not fun and people are realising there are better things out there than the cesspit we all perp.
