In my experiences peoples egos are too high to RP along with you, they feel as if they're too good for the rules and will ignore gp just to either keep items or stop the humiliation of being mugged. Me and @GringoHead would kidnap people instead of killing them making them do challenges like Saw to survive but it usually ends in them dcing or something like that.

Because [REDACTED], [REDACTED],, [REDACTED], and [REDACTED], are toxic esports players and enjoy raiding everyone, regardless. This is probably just gmod as a whole though, the only places you find actual rp tends to be arma and fivem at the moment. Realistically if money wasn't such a big thing in perp people probably wouldn't be bothered as much. A server I play a lot on fivem takes the angle of , money is obtainable but hard to get, and that seems to make people less bothered about taking the game so seriously. And actually even although some people took the game seriously before the new drug system there was definetly a lot more RP from more users. There should also be rule le-way for clear RP situations or buildings, as rp is what makes the server interesting.

this happens on literally every gmod city rp ever, unless its a whitelisted server
the community strays away from developing their characters and focuses more on getting the best cars and guns, and as a result people get bored because they literally already have everything they could ever want so they result in provoking officers and committing crimes that will get them into shootouts all day long

tbh with u i feel like thats just the way perp is meant to be played, it is not centered around character development its centered around getting the best guns and cars. this is why the best way to get money in this game is by doing drugs.

i think that last part about enforcing 9.1 as black and white is just them not enforcing the law properly
if people clearly agree to box each other on private property i dont see how its against the law

In my opinion people don't RP because they have said "the server is dead" "rp is dead" so much, that they actually believe it.

You die when you don't do anything to stay alive. You live when you try to stay alive.

Same goes for RP, if you want RP to be alive, start a scenario. Show the community you are willing to RP, show everyone RP isn't dead instead of making threads like this. If I would be a new-ish player that has just made a forum account and then see this, I would believe RP is dead and probably join all the people constantly growing and raiding.
As long as everyone believes RP is dead, there won't be any RP. If people don't want to RP with you that is their problem but if they then complain about it that is completely unjustified. (Which is what mostly happens, people that don't RP at all complain about there not being RP).

Sadly, it has gotten to the point where people don't bother RPing anymore but instead sit inside apartments for 14 hours straight just to get a car which they then only use to escape shootouts and cops. It makes me very upset seeing the server that I enjoyed playing so much 5 years ago turn into the toxic mess it currently is.

The only people that can change this are the community members, aka us. There have been so many attempts to make RP relevant again, but no one really cares because they believe it is already completely dead. The only way RP comes back is if the community stops saying it is dead, just start some scenarios and don't be afraid to interact with other players.

Was not gonna reply but cba seeing these pop up every 30 minutes as @FatGeorge said.

Staff team and the player base are equally at fault, staff team limits RP but the majority of players would rather flame and report over 5 minutes. Cops are as bad as org mains but refuse to believe it and think due to them holding a virtual rank they are above the other players and better at RP'ing in every way.

Org mains are also dog shit noobs, 4:3 stretched playing low dogs that spend more time afk tabbed out watching a csgo compilation or an xqc stream to realize there's something outside of their Projex apartment.

Staff team doesn't encourage RP, event staff haven't been established despite people like myself showing an extreme interest and desire to better RP, community is literally a shit fest.

Everyone is the problem unfortunately, the mindset is hard stuck that economy, guns, cars > state of roleplay & fun.
