When you walk up to a warranted suspect it is reasonable to assume that you know of the warrant, as most cops check the database before going on patrol. Had they not shot you there, the Police would likely have raided them a bit later. If anything, killing just a few of you made their escape easier.
With 3.4 violations the question to ask is if the risks outweigh the benefits. In this case, the benefits were clear and Dai's course of action was reasonable.
