Main idea: Bring back the old way of signing up for officer.

Description: Instead of having to sign up to PLPD.ONLINE to become an officer, you would be able to answer the multiple-choice questions directly from the NPC pop up menu.

Pros:
New players are more likely to sign up to become an officer as they aren't deterred from the outset and don't need to go through the hassle.
It is an easier process and less off-putting

Cons: Would need to sync to plpd.online however after a discussion with @Ayjay this shouldn't be too difficult.

A mingey officer can severely impact someone's time on the server, we are looking to make it easier to get Officer but we aren't just going to give it to everyone and their dog. You need to understand that when giving someone Officer we are giving them the ability to arrest, confiscate, ticket up to 10k, and have access to a free car, weapon and cuffs. Most issues that arise from this will lead to IA complaints which take quite a lot of time to get through especially when they stack up. You'd be surprised with the amount of IA complaints come through even with a full whitelist and a dead server, this isn't something we are willing to do without planning.

In the old days, the vast majority of officer abuse would come under the rule for not following the law. Say a cop shot when he shouldn't, minge ticket or mine road spikes etc.

This was easily solved with a admin taking action either in game or via a AR instead of a lengthy IA process. You can't stop minges, and it's been proved by the fact people who've been in this community for years and held credible ranks in the PLPD still decide to mass RDM

@Duffy While I agree with this, perp has changed and until we figure out how to link a PD punishment with a staff ban/warning for misconduct on duty without having to still go through IA, this won't happen. I'll look into something like this again with staff and IA.

Have it so being Demoted from the job with the rank of officer by a supervisor blacklists you for significantly longer to compensate for suspending officers, etc. Alongside this, make it so the only way to get promoted, be put into sections and get OR's, or apply for specific divisions would be to make a PLPD online account.

Also maybe make it so you only get the previous default officer load out (M9 with no attachments) and once you make a PLPD.online account, you gain access to the Glock 17 and sight attachments. The downside with this idea however is to truly achieve this, there would probably have to be 2 variants of the officer rank? This would encourage officers to make PLPD.online accounts.

The whitelist was a really pretty idea back when the player count was able to justify the queue servers existence but from what I can recall, when the whitelist was introduced, it all kinda went downhill from there in regards to player count.

This would work 100% tbh.

@Duffy I agree, staff would be capable of enforcing standard officer misdemeanors and issuing a blacklist. The downside with that idea however is it can lead to more reports. At the end of the day however, with this current player count, reports on officers probably wouldn't be that much of a spanner in the works to anyone else's reports.

Yeah this would be a better way for the flow of the plpd, although it will make more mingey cops, i think they should bring back probationary officers which need a CPL to take them out on patrol

No, it wouldnt the purpose of bringing back PO would be to stop sweaters being a cop not knowing what they're doing, then when they are trained how to a officer they recieve the rank

"almost all slots taken by cops with no guns" the system was like this before and had no problems this is the most retarded comment i have read all day

Which was incredibly rare back in the days of no PD whitelist, and on the rare occasion it did happen, they wouldn't last long tbh. More people have massRDM'd (Or tried to) as an SS agent than an officer.

Would be down to supervisors to do there jobs and take new officers on duty. Maybe notify active supervisors that a new officer has joined?

tbh, that would seem like effort unless there will be an automated thing that goes out to all SGT+ saying new officer has joined the department, look out for them and assist them?

@Daft Punk Its effort, but being a Supervisor itself is effort, and part of our efforts is to make sure new officers are properly inducted into PD work.
