Why aren't you playing (pt 2)

having voice enabled has a lot to do with rp there's no immersion in some 12 year old kid screaming through his mic, i'm not saying remove it i'm saying re-categorise perpheads to what it is, a semi serious rp server

Crafting material Prices got jacked up massively and as a result guns are some kind of delicacy on the server, Add this to the lack of them actually being sold because its miles easier to just have someone make them for you or craft them yourself. Even when you don't have to pay retail price for them however, its still a massive pain in the arse.

On top of this, the issues regarding marksmanship is retarded, it shouldn't be around. The very principal of marksmanship is to add a forced disadvantage for new players over experienced players when there's cases where the new player is probably a better shooter than the person who killed him.

Little legal opportunities for people who don't want to shoot to get money, and as a result, no one can get millions without having to get there hands dirty somehow, be it through being cop or criminal. All money is literally blood money. Someone has to lose out in order for someone to gain money, even through fishing, because of muggings. Paramedics only get real money during times of crisis, and someone has to almost die or actually die in order for them to start seeing a decent supply of cash.

The only real way of making decent money as mayor is to remove income tax and get 200-350 a minute from it (other than fishing as mayor). Maybe increase mayor pay so we consistently have a mayor in power?

There's been alleged cases of nepotism in the PD in the past, I don't know if its still the case because I don't look into it very much, and I won't be giving any further opinions regarding the infrastructure of the PD As I've heard its already downsizing.

To avoid getting mugged or raided, people go cop so they actually have backup to protect them, and they still get money when they die and the gunmen are all out zerged by beretta snipers. Sure you can call this poor sportsmanship, but this alongside the fact that you can still receive a ticket as well as a firearms confiscation is a massive pain to players, and people have genuinely forwarded this as a complaint only to be told "fOlLoW tHe lAw tHeN", and when people actually take this terrible advice to heart, cops complain there's no shootouts. Back when I started playing I remember there being 2 shootouts at once simultaneously in different places. The PD would be forced to divide itself between 2 incidents, giving balance to the shooters as the officers would have stuff to do. On top of this, whenever 1 shootout starts, the entire PD responds even if they're busy.

Overall, the reason the server got more toxic probably has to do with the fact that its gotten so much more expensive, and sure it might look easier now to make money by growing than it was before, and sure, a lot of no namers have super cars when back then super cars were a rarity, but they're only able to afford these cars because they don't spend stupid amounts on guns and defend with pistols, so they can afford to lose a raid.

Quality of roleplay is also a pretty predominant issue but at the same time its been this way for so long that anyone who wanted to leave because of that sole reason did so a long time ago, so yanno, this might not change til more legal jobs are presented to the community.

I understand that the current development team is actively working on not one, but several updates, and I am pleased to hear that and anticipate these updates. I know that this stuff takes time and the dev team is very limited with what they can do due to time restraints, but I'd like to see @Xquality allow some community members to step forward and edit Paralake and present there own versions of it for us to use on a 3 month basis each map. Maybe have a contest where the prize is 3 months VIP? This would also allocate more time for XQ to make more models and content whilst the mapping is left to the community.

Hate to make a long winded rant, and a lot of this stuff has probably been said before me, but I stand by my opinions.

In my opinion, a lot of people are leaving due to lack of content and it's just the same old thing every day now. Legit the economy is broken since everyone drives around in stupidly expensive cars. Most situations turn into shootouts no matter how simple they are at the start it just turns into a cops and robbers shootout type thing. Some illegal activities are now not worth doing, so for example, robbing the bank is not worth it since it barely even covers the price of the gun used for a lot of people since you have to do it with enough people to at least have a chance against all of the TFU and Remmy cops. With that being said, guns are way too expensive to craft which also as stated above in many cases basically just makes you question are some activities really worth it. In addition to this, you legit just get people like @Jimmy Jackson who sits in the SWAT Van for the majority of situations not getting out until they see a worthy opportunity which just makes it less worthy for the civilians involved when people like that just make it boring and an even higher chance of losing valuables.

Lastly, just about the lack of content above, I know the development team are working on it but you guys need to become a bit more active and dedicated. I know you have outside lives and all that but if that's the case then try and find someone to cover for you or at least set up some kind of plan to be able to help have a constant flow of new content coming out since it's quite evident you guys can't keep up. In addition to this if you guys can't keep up then people start getting bored and leaving so it's just an endless cycle of no updates then people just leave and won't play for ages or not come back at all.

@Matthew I've played enough serious roleplay to understand that PERP ranks extremely low in how serious it's playerbase takes the gamemode - This shouldn't determine the gamemodes intent though, we're obviously not going to have everybody be 100% serious at all times but there's certainly many steps we can take to improve roleplay across all gameplay mechanics. Removing voice chat isn't really an option (as you've said) but we can take steps to ensure that administration is improved, in order for people who misuse this function are removed.

We're never going to have a utopic 100% serious server, but rebranding us to match the likes of DarkRP seems like a step in the wrong direction in my opinion.

I do agree that there is a distinct lack of content as of recent - This is (as you've said) due to peoples lives getting in the way of being able to donate time toward PERP development. This 'survey' and thread is to try narrow down what needs the most attention, so we can improve the clear distaste some members of the community feel when playing the gamemode. I personally will be working hard after Christmas to ensure that regular updates are pushed out, @Bolli is working currently to get the 'Map Rotation' released and Fredy is also going to be working on getting the organisation update out ASAP. We do apologise sincerely for the lack of movement within the development team, but we are all trying to find time, bare with us just a little longer.

We are also going to address the gun/material prices soon. I am working on a spreadsheet as we speak, in an attempt to resolve these issues.

The idea for mining at stonehenge has been talked about, we do however need models for this and @Xquality is seemingly MIA. We'll try get this sorted and hopefully find someone to make much needed models. I also think it'd be super cool if other legal opportunities such as farming & even tree cutting were added. I'll personally ensure that this specific issue is addressed promptly.

I think we can find a way to balance it so both of these issues aren't as prominent - You shouldn't be losing that much money each time you die, but as @KeiwaM said it could cause more uproar in terms of administration. I'll try and work with Senior Administration to find methods to implement any changes as smoothly as possible.

I'd like to also add into my last point. LACK OF CREATIVITY AND ROLEPLAY. I built a shed at bazzar and farmed pretending to be homeless but had a car next to the shed to help me plant pumpkins etc. And a cop comes along and tells me to move the car. And goes ahead and max tickets me for 12.4. This just shows people don't care about the State of role play. Yes maybe I used props as a bridge to get the car along but still, I was enjoying placing pumpkins and farming until that cop came on.
Just generally being creative is great but there are people who ruin it. @Kempotent

Probably best to edit that Officer out of this post and just report him if there is actually any wrongdoing, which I don't think there really is, instead of coming across as slanderous and not providing any evidence at all other than a picture of a crappy shed and not substantiating a single claim other than the fact you made a shed out of cedar and mesh fences.
Next time go to B&Q mate.

I understand that you may have liked to have created some sort of unique roleplay encounter but that doesn't mean other people can't have their own, maybe that Officer could have handled the situation better but it sounds like you just got angry that he was doing his job.

The server is filled with people who just want to have shootouts all day, it ruins the flow of RP on the server when shootouts happen in one location then suddenly another, police are constantly responding to something. All you have to do to know action is coming is check the scoreboard, if you ever see a player that's prone to starting shootouts you know you'll either have a good or a bad time depending on what type of player you are. SWAT turned into a paramilitary force just to combat this, and now the PD refuses to change or revert something they "worked hard on" even though the demand for TFU has more or less passed. People want to be able to go on duty as SWAT again, myself included.

The PD shouldn't have turned into a super serious thing, because suddenly you've got a lot of people who ruin the mood for other people who just want to have fun and act a little silly, all because of "Professionalism". That's how I remember V2, just before the whitelist, and frankly from that point it all eventually turned out shit in the end. Staff in-game should have full control over EVERY player. This will essentially strip the immunity that PD personnel have over most minor rule breaks, especially 4.1. If an officer's action is deemed unlawful by a staff member, they're punished. It was incredibly simple, and it still deterred officers from breaking laws. IA is just a buffer, it takes longer, does half the job and gives officers immunity unless the rule break is severe. It makes no sense.

Without really realizing it, you've stripped some of the job from staff as they no longer have to care about officers breaking laws since "just make an IA" became the norm, and is frankly frustrating as shit. The PD itself should never have become anywhere near equal in power to staff over any player, and shouldn't have acted as staff if an IA complaint was found to be super serious.

I should probably mention how almost everyone on the server treats driving as some form of derby race event, with zero regard for their vehicle's health, and only care if someone hits them and causes them engine damage. This sort of thing needs to be taken more seriously, and driving actually be done properly. It removes a fair amount of RP potential when nobody cares about those few cones you've placed down and just shoves them out of their way with their car as if they weren't there at all. I find it funny when people ram your barricades and end up being stuck on them, AND THEN START COMPLAINING ABOUT CONES IN THE WAY. When this happens I literally wish I could strangle these people in real life. It blows my mind how dumb some people can act, or in some cases just are. Use your fucking brain, it's not hard. Stop holding W like some dumbass Pyro main and start using your damn brakes.

You're complaining about someone doing their job and roleplaying as an LEO while you're racking in lots of hours as an LEO/TFO doing the same thing as well as shooting people quite often.

He's basicslly saying that your statement is hypocritical.

nah the 125 levels is perfectly fine imo, but craft times + gun prices should just be lowered

it should be a specialty to craft things like high-end rifles but it shouldn't take so long (around 3min per rifle of dead crafting time + around 3min for attachments, so around 6min crafting per gun) and cost so much, with attachments becoming a necessity rifles are up to 22k+
